Blurred Lines: A Friends to Lovers MM Romance (Darby U Hockey Boys Book 2)

£4.84

I’ve been in love with my best friend for years.
The problem?
He thinks I’m straight.
And now that I share a dorm with him, his insistent need to cuddle -and lack of clothes- are blurring the careful lines I’ve drawn.
I’m struggling to keep my defenses up.
I love him but I’m afraid.
Afraid I’m not enough to make him stay.
Afraid he’ll rip my heart out.
Afraid he won’t love me back.
But I see a side of him no one else does.
In the security of our room, he lets his mask fall.
Lets me hold him.
Something lurks in the dark recesses of his mind that keeps him from going all in.
He’s just as hesitant about this as I am, but I don’t understand why.

Can I convince him to let me love him the way he deserves…
or will he take my heart and run away with it?

Book one – Hidden scars introduces the characters in this one but there aren’t many similarities in the plot. This is friends to lovers and the build up from friendship to more is great. I love seeing the previous couple and I’m hoping that the potential next couple get a book asap.

I have been waiting for this book for what feels like forever, Brendon was my favourite side character in Hidden Scars and I was super excited for his and Paul’s story.

Straight out of the gate Andi Jaxon decided to take my heart and smash it into tiny pieces. I was not expecting the prologue to be so freaking sad and emotional. Be prepared for you will need chocolate, a blanket and some form of pet for snuggling, in order to emotionally recover from this book.

Brendon is the funny guy, always clowning around and making people laugh. However, his backstory and mental state make you just want to give him a big cuddle and feed him some of granny Albrooke’s famous Santa cookies. Paul has just as sad a backstory and his pining for Brendon is heartbreaking.

Watching these two navigate their mental health and help each other heal was beautiful and hilarious in equal measure.

    THIS PART HAS MAJOR SPOILERS!!!!

I do wish there had been more consequences for C and his dad. Also N, I felt like she got away with that scott free and made the ending seem a little anticlimactic. I know the author has potential plans for C and that’s fair (even if I loathe him and don’t want him being redeemed) but I would at least have liked to see N punished somehow.

Wow, just wow. This book was hot, emotional, monumental, page turning and thoroughly capitivating

The characters were real, they were raw, they were funny, they were people you know, people you love and people you cannot help but want to read more about…

Beautiful brilliance with so much story mixed with zest, love, chemistry, emotion and more.

Blurred lines is the second book in the Darby U Hockey Boys series following Paul and Brendon, it is important to read the first book, Hidden Scars before this one if you haven’t already.

Paul and Brendon’s story is a wholesome, cute and loving best friends to lovers – I loved them both in the first book and I was excited for their story to come. Brendon is a comfort character to me, he is almost like a best friend on paper, him and Paul are absolutely perfect for eachother and I strongly believe they are soul mates and they were always each others person, it just took some time for them to realise that. But maybe deep down, they always knew.

I also really adored Jeremy and Preston’s input in this story, they own my heart completely – I loved their involvement in this book and I was so happy to see more of them after their book.

This story was cute and a good addition to the series, if you enjoyed Hidden Scars you’ll have already met these boys and you definitely need to read their story too.

I was so excited to read Paul and Brendon’s story. I knew something was going on in Brendon’s past, but it was heartbreaking to read what that past was.

The bouncy, crazy boy was a total cuddle bug and I loved him soooooo much. Paul put up with a lot but Brendon was never one of those things. He loved him so strongly and their relationship was so sweet.

The book was full of steam but it was so much more than that and it was a lovely read. I really despise Chad and the Coach from Brendon’s old team and I hope they get the come uppance they deserve. I hope they rot.

This book almost broke my heart so many times and in multiple different ways but it was a good read. I adored it and I’m so glad they got their happy ending.

Brendon and Paul’s story was worth the wait. Lots of emotions and feels, they’ve both been though a lot in their young lives and yet had so much love to give each other. It starts of slow and then gradually builds with everything going on around their day to day lives at university and playing hockey. It was great to see Jeremy and Preston from the previous book and some of the time line coincides. I really enjoyed their story, loved Paul’s grandparents, Chad and his step dad sucked but maybe they’ll get what’s due in another book.

Ok, so I was NOT ok whilst reading this book.

Paul and Brendon’s story is one hell of an emotional journey. Honestly, be prepared to be put through the ringer with this one.

I was utterly hearbroken at some of the things in this book. These beautiful, broken boys broke me in the best possible way. I mean, talk about all the hurt/comfort you could ever need.

The things Paul and Brendon have been through ???? but the way they love each other is beautiful even though they are both petrified at time of losing each other, of not being enough for each other they never gave up and always sought comfort in each other.

Even though some parts of the book were so hard to read, it was a phenomenal story. The emotions it provokes are overwhelming. I felt myself absolutely absorbed by the story, and I couldn’t put it down and read it in one sitting.

I couldn’t recommend this series and this book enough. A definite must-read that will break you beyond words but then slowly piece you back together with a stunning story of love and survival.

This is a wonderful follow up to book one and I really enjoyed Brendon and Paul’s road to HEA. This story is very funny, Brendon is just such a loveable goof ball with a heart of gold, and Paul is a solid guy who embraces the chaos. I loved seeing more of Preston and Jeremy too.
