Britain is steeped in so much history and legend, we’re lucky to have so many relics, landmarks and attractions which often accompany a story or myth.

This book sheds light on a select few landmarks that are found around Scotland, England and Wales and was a fantastic read, both entertaining and insightful. I really enjoyed reading about all of the stories and myths which often include tales of fairies, nymphs, the legends of King Arthur and romances of kings and queens of old. I’ve added a fair few sites to the ‘to visit’ list after this!

Also the illustrations on the pages were a real visual delight and added to the reading experience. It was super easy to read and interspersed with extracts of readings and poetry. I actually learnt a lot from this and a fair few nuggets of places I haven’t yet visited but sparked my curiosity and imagination.

It’s a fab book to have on your shelf and would be a worthy addition to all at home bookshelves. Especially if you find yourself intrigued by the wonders of the UK, love history and regularly frequent many of the amazing National Trust sites we have dotted around the country.

This book really caught my eye. Much of Britain is covered with iconic landmarks with all manor of legends to accompany them. Though somewhere along the way some of this seems to have been forgotten. So I thought this book was a great way to reacquaint myself and learn of any unknown to me.

The book is a small hardcover. The pages are clearly printed with colour illustrations. The book is divided into regions to make it easier to navigate.

While the book isn’t an exhaustive exploration of the Britain’s landmarks and legends, it features a mix of some of the more well known ones and some of the lesser known. The book is fairly approachable with a decent amount of information. The illustration are wonderful but a little sparse. It would really benefit from more.

A great book to keep on your shelf or to even take on your travels. Personally I would like more illustrations. Recommended.

This is one of those books where you need to deep in and out over weeks or if you plan on visiting any of the landmarks and areas covered in the book as the extra information would really add to any days out inspired by it.

A very nice hardback book with some really picturesque images included, this would make a good gift for somebody with an interest in the topic but not yet adventuring to them, a definitely inspiring and informative read awaits and I can truthfully say that a reread will always be worth it.

Nice little book loaded with info of Britian’s landmarks and legends. Is split into sections by region – so South West, Northern England, Wales, Scotland, Central England, South East Anglia. Each landmark is given around 2 -3 pages of info with the occasional water colour drawing. Just give enough info – but if looking for in depth info about a particular landmark you may need more. Stonehenge for example is cover in 3 pages, but as you;ll know there are full books on the subject. So gives you an insight.

What a little gem of a book. It is really well written and is fascinating, cover to cover. I love the diversity of locations covered – some really well known, others not. It’s a fascinating read. It looks great on the coffee-table as a book to dip in-and-out of, which everyone who sees the title usually do.

Living in a county rich in history and historic landmarks like Stonehenge, this book was a must-have for me.
It has loads of detailed information about the area, its history and legends and is also beautifully illustrated.
It is another first-class publication from the National Trust to encourage us to appreciate our own countryside and its heritage.
This book should be on the bookshelf of anyone who wants to know what is in their area or places they can visit on days out. It is great for teaching children about our English heritage and how important it is to look after it.
    A great book.
