Bought this to read over the summer as I was starting A Level government and politics, it provided a really great basis for me to learn from and so I would really recommend it for future a level students!

If you haven’t any ideas how politics work in the UK or even if you only have a little understanding of what’s going on in Westminster then I would recommend this book. Topics cover everything from the devolved governments of the Celtic nations and how Westminster is run and the roles ministers have. Very good book.

As always with the for Dummies book, great book. Detailed but easy to read.

A great introduction to British Politics for someone who needs it spelling out (that’s me).
The introduction says you will be discussing politics like a pro after reading this book. Perhaps this is a little optimistic, but it will give you a good basic knowledge of how it all fits together, and the basic issues which drive the political machinery; so you can give a reasonably informed answer when someone asks “what do you think to the latest Government announcement”. It might even get you interested in politics.

The book has not been updated with Brexit, it thinks that the UK is in the EU
