I have bought this book for my 9 years old nephew. I tried to cover all the bases, so I gave him three different books, another two being Usborne’s comic-style adaptation of Odyssey and fiction book by Phillip Pullman.
Interestingly, this book proved to be the most popular — not only he read it, but also he loaned it to all his classmates.
I looked through it myself — the style is engaging, it covers some pretty serious subjects, albeit in simplified way, of course. So if you thinking about buying a present for a child who is good at reading and is interested in real world around him — I definitely recommend this book.

My daughter loved it & has been reading it non stop. Covers some quite serious stuff, but not in a way that is too daunting to a young reader.

This, and the others in the series are great books. My daughter (10) and I have been reading them together and the way that the concepts are explained in simple, non-patronising terms really helps kids (and adults) grasp them. We always have lots of chats about the parts we are reading and this one in particular has inspired my daughter no end.

Fantastic book. Bought during first Lockdown in 2020 and it taught my 9yr old so much about how Business works. It breaks it down easily. Well done Usborne. Yet again.

Really appreciate these books for guided reading. We have the version about Money as well. They are great source of little debates. The books provides my children with some awareness of-, and affinity with my day to day activities. And frankly, it would be good the make children somewhat financially and economically aware. As currently there is very little to none attention for in the school curriculum.
This colourful, well-presented hard cover book takes children through what businesses are as entities. But it then quickly become very practical explaining about business plans, the gap in the market, identification of competitive advantages (which is vital if you ask me), pricing strategies, scale and marketing. It’s very diverse, covering a range of different aspects of running a business, including management styles and client servicing. It is actually very complete. All is presented in such a manner that children can understand. And it reads very well. My daughter actually liked to go through it with me.
Ideally you want your children to take note, finish the book and rush off to start their own successful digital commercial venture (& take care of their parents financially!!). But they can’t be pushed. And should not be pushed.
In all seriousness, this book is already great as a reference to put things in context. The book even addresses business failures and will give your child instructions on how to IPO their company.
