Calculus Essentials For Dummies (9781119591207) was previously published as Calculus Essentials For Dummies (9780470618356). While this version features a new Dummies cover and design, the content is the same as the prior release and should not be considered a new or updated product.

Many colleges and universities require students to take at least one math course, and Calculus I is often the chosen option. Calculus Essentials For Dummies provides explanations of key concepts for students who may have taken calculus in high school and want to review the most important concepts as they gear up for a faster-paced college course. Free of review and ramp-up material, Calculus Essentials For Dummies sticks to the point with content focused on key topics only. It provides discrete explanations of critical concepts taught in a typical two-semester high school calculus class or a college level Calculus I course, from limits and differentiation to integration and infinite series. This guide is also a perfect reference for parents who need to review critical calculus concepts as they help high school students with homework assignments, as well as for adult learners headed back into the classroom who just need a refresher of the core concepts.

Needed a brush up on differentiation before my Microeconomics exam. This helped! However, alot of irrelevant stuff for me though as I study economics, not maths.

Simple step by step approach to the subject meant ideas built up systematically and quickly.
Good raed though the style is a bit patronising in parts.

Calculus is a very interesting subject and this book provides an excellent explanation of the subject. A highly recommend text.

I took A level maths and further maths many years ago and I needed a quick refresher to help with a friends daughters homework. This did the trick. I loved the explanitary style and the fairly informal aproach. The author obviously thinks in a way similar to me, and this made the learning and recal all the more effective. Good value, good book.

I can’t compliment the writers and editors of this book enough. I decided to teach myself calculus because of an interest in science generally and a difficulty getting past basic concepts with out a better understanding of maths.
Online resources for pre-calculus topics are well supported by sites like […] but calculus isn’t as well represented and tends to be pitched at a level that I found difficult to cope with.
This book has enabled me to go from no understanding to a fairly thorough understanding of the subject up-to and including the basic techniques of integration. The book is laid out in such a way that it offers a sensible and coordinated progression through the subject and acts as a continual reference book when you need to go back and reacquaint with certain concepts.
The only book that I found essential to run by it’s side was a word problem book on calculus to help transfer the technical skills into real understanding of application.

I bought this book because though I have done calculus before, I wanted an in depth understanding and a clear structured approach as in the past it wasn’t explained to me in terms of why calculus exists and what its for.

This book is very good at explaining the concepts in an easy and simple way.

I really like this book, and I feel like the author stays true to the ‘for dummies’ concept.

You can gain a real insight into calculus, and what it means, how it is used etc without being intimidated by scary maths. Whenever the maths gets difficult, it is broken down and thoroughly described.

The book has some nice pictures/drawings in there too so it keeps it light and fun.
