Very disappointing and uninspiring. “complete coverage of the latest syllabus” – are networks not in the syllabus any more then?

Would have been better if the CD was provided as stated, as many of the exercises rely upon the use of the CD. Good content inside the book however and is perfect for my son who is doing Computer Science.

The text book totally matched up with the CIE exam papers in both June and November. Indeed this book was the only source of information for many of the questions asked. I don’t agree with the criticism that this book is at odds with the actual exam papers since there seems to be a very strong correlation

Students found this textbook poot and unhelpful. Limited exam questions, and lacking on some areas. We have switched to another text.

Look on the spine.
🙂
Been a while since a textbook made me laugh so. I shudder to think how many are lurking inside.

This book is a well summarised book which contains everything that needs to be covered in the syllabus. The book that I have does not contain any grammatical mistake at all (I pre ordered it). The book does not contain any CD indeed but CD contents can be found, as indicated on the books back cover, at hoddereducation.com/cambridgeextras. The additional content content is very helpful to me. However, it only covers theory parts (section 1).
However, although this book covers the whole syllabus, the fact that everything is summarised can be a problem too as if some topics are not very clear, then you will have to depend either on your teacher, on the internet or use another textbook (and at the time I’m writing this review, there is no other Cambridge endorsed Computer Science text, so you’ll have to depend on non endorsed computer science texts). In the picture, I placed it next to my iPhone 5s to show how thin the book is.
I would see this book more as a very detailed, complete and colourful revision guide than a complete textbook. It seems a bit rushed for a textbook. I still would recommend it though as it is great to revise in or quickly learn something new.

There is no CD in any of the 4 books I ordered… I believe Hodder Education – the Publishers are having the same problem!
