Cat Person

£7.60

Cat Person is a collection of comics by cartoonist Seo Kim. Begun as a personal challenge to create daily, the comics feature a variety of themes from the silly to the serious. Characterized by a charming drawing style and frequently featuring the cartoonist and her farcical feline Jimmy, these are the best Sunday comics you’ve never seen.

Seo Kim was born in Seoul, Korea, and then immigrated to Toronto, Ontario, just a few months later. Kim currently lives in Los Angeles, California, and works as a storyboard artist for the massively successful Cartoon Network show Adventure Time.

I tried to find a nice souvenir when I went to San Francisco a few years ago and this was one of the things I picked up (also an original “Zap” #2) – I didn’t realize it would ever be available outside of the little graphic novel / book shop I bought it in because it looks so fearlessly home-made, but here we are on Amazon. It’s just lovely and extremely charming in many ways – as well as mining the entertaining antics of human-cat interaction, the author constantly makes fun of herself for falling short of her self-discipline goals whilst prolifically producing a huge quantity of fabulous comic material and I presume having a full-time job or two as Adventure-Time storyboard artist and Illustrator. Don’t feel too bad about your achievements Seo, they are far in excess of the mean – but also stop slacking!

What a wonderful and funny comic book! We both had fun with my 11-year-old daughter. There are separate stories inside, some of them a spread, some just one page. Life like situations, very female oriented, with nice touch of “Japaneese style drawing”.
