Her first “Kate the Highland Dancer” story, Disaster at the Highland Games, won the Alice Kitts Memorial Award for Excellence in Children’s Writing. Riel Nason loves Highland dancing and is a part-time Highland dance teacher. She lives in New Brunswick, Canada with her family.

Nathasha Pilotte is a francophone artist living in Saint John, New Brunswick. She likes to paint and felt, and takes her inspiration from daily life to create her colourful and whimsical illustrations. Her work can be seen in Disaster at the Highland Games and many other children’s books, charming the reader with a touch of humour.
