My 6 year old daughter is really suffering with anxiety. It’s built slowly since starting school, and has progressed to pretty much every area of her life that isn’t home. She worries constantly, about a variety of issues, and wakes at night with nightmares and negative thoughts that she can’t control.
I’m less than 100 pages in, and have read enough to help me understand better. It is so well written and broken down, that I feel it is information I’m already kind of aware of, but needed it explaining this way to break through the barrier of helping in a logical, organised manner.
I’ve already seen, maybe not an improvement (it’s been 3 days) but a light at the end of the tunnel as my daughter is responding to form of help this book offers.
For anyone else with a similar issues, I also find the 333 method is a great distraction when out and about. 3 things they can see, 3 things they can hear, and 3 body parts they can move.
Good luck parents, it’s heartbreaking watching them suffer.

Beautifully set out book with equally wonderful illustrations. Comprehensive and clear.
I look forward to using the tools laid out in this book, including the CBM work sheet, to help my assessment of children presenting with mental health problems to the emergency department. This will especially aid my sign posting. Thank you!

Really impressive extensive book. I love the colours, illustrations, and the really useful workshops (which I also received as a download able copy from the author). I’m a private CBT therapist working with teens and adults. This book has given me additional resources to use with my clients. I would really recommend it.

As a therapist I am finding this a most useful resource. It breaks down what can be sometimes confusing CBT concepts into easy to read and easy to understand explanations of treatments for a comprehensive array of mental health issues. Anyone working with young people with mental health issues would find this book invaluable. I feel it would also be of great interest to people training to become CBT practitioners or anyone just wanting an accessible introduction to CBT. Martin James Accredited BABCP Practitioner.

I love books with big writing. I’m down to chapter 3 and I have learned useful information already.
I have a 2 year old but I bought this book for myself really. You get out of school not knowing how to manage your thoughts and emotions, and if your parents have no clue what that means, you are doomed. Thank you for this book.

I cannot rate this book enough. With her wealth of knowledge and experience, Alison explores the intricacies of cognitive behavioral therapy and emotional difficulties in simplistic ways that are accessible to everyone. Not only does this support in gaining invaluable insight but she also provides developmentally appropriate resources to support people in working through their difficulties in an evidence based way. All of the book is illustrated beautifully also. It is a bible of knowledge and a fantastic book for those wanting to develop further understanding, work through difficulties and support those who are struggling. Can’t recommend it enough!

This book is like a perfect bible for professionals and parents to help unpick and support children with their mental health.
The chapters are so well organised so it can be dipped into as and when it is needed. The worksheets are so child friendly and accessible.
Alison is so knowledgeable and her wealth of experience comes through in this book!

I have been privileged to know Alison Triste for over a decade as a friend and supervisor. She uses her experience of working with children and adolescents over a long period and her compassionate, creative and warmly engaging manner shines through in this charmingly illustrated book. The book strives to be jargon-free yet has a strong underlying theoretical basis. It explains the reasons for exercises and questionnaires which can be downloaded.
The Covid epidemic has lead to an increase in mental health issues amongst children and adolescents. THis book offers a comprehensive guide to helping young people and I would recommend it.
