The website associated with this book DOES NOT WORK. It appears not to have been up for a long time. (3 or 4 years?) Look on Chris Gore’s Facebook page or Twitter profile. Something’s up, but he’s clearly currently off the scene. This book is very useful BUT if you bought the latest edition, as I did, solely for the internet database that accompanies it, don’t buy it, because you will be sorely disappointed.
It’s a shame that he hasn’t himself presented this information on amazon because you’re not getting what you paid for with this purchase. Disappointing. Book – good. Database – down!
Personally, I’d like my money back because I already owned a previous copy of this book. Additionally, it’s worth taking some of the information with a pinch of salt. Top ten festivals outside the US include Oldenburg but not Venice. Clearly, complete nonsense.

Chris Gore’s Book is the best book I’ve seen on how to approach and select Festivals for your film; whether is a short of a feature. Chris give’s open an honest tips on how to increase your film’s probability to get accepted, prepare your festival strategy and WHAT TO PUT IN THE PRESS KIT!!
My film (Fantoons) has done a good round of festival this year (8 so far) and Chris’ book was invaluable for to prepare the material.
The only think I would criticise is the online access (it never worked for me) but it wasn’t necessary, and the book is still brilliant.
Make this your first step to start the strategy and look for yourself afterwards, don’t stay with the festivals in the book only, especially if you are beginning your career. As Mr. Gore himself says so: It is better to loved in a smaller festival than ignored in one of the big ones.
