This book contains a great variety of festive carols and songs, clearly marked with the names of the notes as well as the music manuscript.
However, in many of the tunes, much of the song is missing. And only the first verse of lyrics are included. No good if you’re performing for a sing-along but a nice book for beginners, Grade 2.

This is a great Christmas piano book for beginners, the songs are very simple and easy to learn. I’ve had other so-called beginners books which have been incredibly difficult but this is truly is a beginners book. I’d recommend having a look at this book I’d you wanted to learn simple versions of well known Christmas songs.

Positives: Shortened/Simplified arrangements making it easy for all to get playing, kids and adults and feel successful.
Negatives: It would have been 5* but there are a number of spelling mistakes in the lyrics, hilarious to a 7yr old to have a partridge in a peer tree.

the book has many songs that are unknown to most people and some notes and lyrics written were noticeably wrong, but it’s a good book for beginners. it requires both hands for all songs but there are songs for advanced and beginners.

The 2 levels of beginner are those who aren’t yet fluent in reading musical notation, perhaps struggling somewhat to recognise which is D, F, B flat etc. These beginners need only recognise which octave the notes are in, ie D above middle C, or D above C an octave higher. Then, they can play by reading the notes as written above the treble and bass staffs. The finger numberings are written as superscript to each written note.
The other beginners being those who are fluent in reading one note at a time. It is easy to ignore the written notes and just note the fingering while playing the carol.
I checked out the non-English speaking carols using as music subscription service named after a crunchy fruit. All were available. The audio files sound good.
I’ve been playing piano and learning to read music for about 18 months now. I wish I had access to this songbook after about 6 months. As well as C major scale songs, this has some F and G major songs, which would have put me off at six months if not for the fact that this book tells you to play B flat every time, instead of having to remember to play it from memory.
I hope more books are released in this format for beginners.

There is a good selection of Christmas songs and it is useful to be able to listen to the Audio for unfamiliar ones. Personally I would have liked to have a few more challenging ones too but the book does say it is suitable for beginner kids and adults. Other piano books from this publisher are more difficult and probably more suitable for people returning to the piano after a break

Brilliant book, although this book is relatively easy, some of the songs are more difficult than others, wish some of the carols were longer, but overall an excellent book with audio to accompany you playing!
