Really happy with this book, good questions. My 9yr old loves maths so this is a good way to test his maths knowledge. I think some questions could be easy even for 7yr old though.

A clearly presented workbook with mixed practice. Clearly set out.
Would prefer that each of the ‘tests’ were renamed ‘practice’ or something similar.

Great for when your internet is rubbish making homeschooling online impossible.

It is an easy to use booklet, my daughter loved filling in the chart at the front to map her progress. It really drove her on. There are a couple of areas that perhaps she missed, or that they haven’t covered yet in her school that I was able to then explain to her. It was very satisfying watching her progress through the book getting the concepts that she knew, right, as well as learning additional ones. She enjoyed the book and it didnt seem like extra work, she often wanted to do more than one page each day. The only downside is the terminology, it did take an explanation in other words for her to grasp the concept sometimes.

This is an excellent book of weekly tests, which really covers a huge amount of concepts. There are 40 tests, which become progressively more challenging, although each test has a certain amount of revision questions, so your child does not forget what they have already learnt. There is a grid to record your child’s progress and the answers are at the back of the book. I really like the mixed question format – covering everything from time (analogue and digital), the calendar, shapes, fractions, symmetry, angles, handling data and much more. For this age group there is also a
Collins Practice – Collins Phonics and Spelling: Ages 7-8
, plus ‘Basic Skills” books in both Maths and English –
Collins Practice in the Basic Skills – Maths Book 1
and
Practice in the Basic Skills (1) – English Book 1: English Bk.1
. Good workbooks and a useful aid to reinforce maths concepts.

I love this range of Collins books and have been using them for years with my kids. They cover all mathematical strands and act as a useful consolidation tool of concepts they have covered in school.
