I really like this book for a brief overview of everything. I have given this 4*s instead of 5 because it does say in the description that it has ‘all the facts you need to know’ when of course it could not in only 300 pages! However, I have found that this book is useful for really close to the exams when you cannot possibly read through all your notes again but would like to get a brief overview just to remind you of things. What is really helpful is that there are wide margins completely free of text. I have looked through this book throughout the year and have been adding additional pieces of information that I will find helpful to read close to the exams.

So in summary, this book is not enough to teach you medicine, you need to look in more detailed books for this information. However, it is helpful for a fast overview close to your exams and for adding your own notes to try and summarise your work.

I am only about 50 pages in. So far I have noticed that some important information is missing or outdated (I do understand this was printed in 2016). For example, many of the important to know classifications are missing (bamford stroke classification, truelove and witts IBD severity score). As are the treatment algorithms for MI and asthma.

This is a good book to use for making sure you cover everything, but it is not a replacement for reading the NICE guidance and a larger textbook. Nevertheless, it is an easy to read and it has a nice format.

It was a really good resource to ensure you havent missed major topics. it was good as a summary to read after your own notes. covers the small topics in enough detail but doesnt cover major topics- eg Diabetes, stroke etc in nearly enough details. some mistakes too- be wary- eg it should be a hypochloraemic, hypokalaemic metabolic alkalosis in pyloric stenosis but is stated as hyperchloraemic in the book. a few mistakes like this! overall i’d still recommend it. I added my own notes and post-its so i have everything in one place

Carry it around with me for a quick fact check ever since I bought it. Super useful for last minute revision!
Delivery was nice and quick and so far haven’t had any issues with the book.

A must buy product – this is perfect, i have started using it now a year before finals so its great to take to lectures etc and fill in missing bits. It won’t state what antibiotic etc you would usually give but I don’t see that as necessarily a bad thing as these sorts of things often change. I found its a lot like rapid but with abreviated starts eg A not Aetiology. Book includes X-rays and CTs and is definitely value for money!

This book gives a good overview of all the key topics for medical school finals. I was particularly pleased that it included sections on specialities including O+G, paeds, opthalmology, ENT etc. And its still small enough to carry on the train. I doubt that it contains everything that you need for finals, however it does seem to cover the most important points about most of the conditions that we need to know. Also there are large margins and plenty of space to write some additional notes, so you can add anything that you feel is missing.
This book could probably benefit from a few more pictures, particularly in sections such as dermatology.
Overall, I would say this is a great book for briefly summarising all the essential topics for finals, which I suspect will be very useful close to exams when you don’t want to be reading large textbooks or massive pages of notes. However, it would be neccessary to also use other textbooks or lecture notes to gain the depth of knowledge needed.

Very concise and has the key points you need. Almost like pre-made cue cards!

Perfect reference material for more experienced medical students, but un-illustrated and in short jargon so not accessible for earlier years. Also some subjects are only briefly covered in a couple of lines, but these are more eclectic subjects for further study using other resources. That said, it is my reference book of choice and if I were to be stripped of my library except for one book, this would be my choice to retain. Also the book is divided into medical, surgical and speciality areas and within these by system. The book is lightweight and ideal for taking in your bag for reference between ward work.
