Cowboys and Cupcakes (Merry Everything Book 3)
£4.60
Baker Jax Martinez works odd hours making cupcakes and cookies in his New York apartment. It’s a skill he learned from his grandparents, who raised him in a bakery of their own, and he’s never wanted to do anything else. His strange schedule makes it hard to have friends and a social life, but he’s an introvert so the occasional Sunday dinner with his best friend January is enough for him.
Sawyer McMahon joined the army to leave behind everyone and everything he knew after losing the cowboy he loved in a horrific rodeo accident. After nearly losing his own life as a soldier overseas, he’s not sure what’s next for him. His old rodeo buddy Hawk Destry, who has had to deal with a disability of his own, offers Saw a place to stay for a while in New York and he takes it, hoping Hawk can help him get his recovery on track.
It’s an instant friendship when Jax finds an excuse to rescue Saw from an overwhelming moment, and they discover quickly that they want to be more. Their issues and quirks seem to fit together in a strange and complicated way, but neither of them has thought much beyond the present moment. Could they actually have a future together? Or are they destined to be just friends?

I always look forward to a new release from these two authors and Cowboys and Cupcakes is no different. Though Sawyer has experienced a few horrific events in his life, he now gets a low angst romance with Jax as he recovers and works to live with his injuries. Jax is Jan’s best friend (Jan and Hawk’s story is Flying Blind) and spends pretty much all of his time baking at his home. When Saw looks to Hawk for help for somewhere to start over getting out of the army, he finds a friendly welcome with unwavering support and an energetic spitfire in Jax.
The two men clearly share something from the start with them being so at ease in each other’s company, happily flirting away but also keeping each other calm which is helpful to them both in different ways. Jax isn’t ignorant of what Sawyer has been through but he just sees his injuries and scars as a part of the whole man, perfect as he is. It’s a huge thing for Sawyer and it gives him back some confidence in his own body, even if it doesn’t move too well. In turn, he is helpful and supportive of Jax and his dreams for his own bakery. Theirs is a relationship that is quick to develop and move along but it’s something that feels natural for them both and also what they need in their lives. Jan and Hawk are great friends to them both in so many ways and it’s wonderful to read that positive for all of the men involved.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

This was a good low angst holiday romance about two people meeting, connecting and falling in love, Jax and Saw were just great together and they both helped each other, the ending was great looking forward to the next story.
