This is a fascinating read about the biggest sporting scandals over various sports. The book covers the sporting scandals in detail, with examples and stories from all the major sports, with a chapter dedicated to each of the following sports; baseball, basketball, football (soccer), cricket, American football, motorsport, cycling, and boxing. There are some fascinating examples of scandals and match-fixing, and the ones that surprised me the most were the ones where a big part of the team was in on it. The book also includes a chapter on countering the cheats, which was enlightening – highly recommended read for some great insight into sports scandals and match fixtures!

I enjoyed this book. It is an easy read and well researched and will suit both a US and non US audience. It covers cheating and matching fixing in many sports. I particularly enjoyed the chapters on motor racing with creative ideas like cooling fuel to make it contract and hidden water tanks. The chapter on cycling was interesting together with boxing. It is interesting how many cheats and now reformed characters. An informative read for those interested in the subject and is recommended reading.

Thought this was an excellent read. Read the whole book within 1 day, very entertaining & absorbing. There will continue to be scandals of course but the extent of which some of them went to is extraordinary. It is pretty incredible, not just the fact it was an individual but in some cases a team of players or athletes, and those who were covering up – shocking. Covering many different types of sport, I knew of some but not the detail which the author has gone into. So I thoroughly recommend this book. A great gift for a man in particular, however as a women thought it was excellent.

I always love a good scandal book and this one definitely delivered! Fascinating to read about the history of dishonesty in sports.

Who would have thought so much corruption went on behind the scenes in the sporting world? Great insights into well known sports cheats and scammers, and the shocking lengths people will go to to come out on top. I’m not a sports fan but i do like a good read and a good scandal!

There will always be cheats but in competitive sport they risk reputation and careers yet still do it. I was surprised at the extraordinary lengths some sports people go to. This book is a real conversation starter.
