Take note of the recommended reading age of 8-12 as I feel that the stories in the book are very much pitched at that age group.
It’s a series of letters/stories from nurses in all different areas of the profession either talking about a specific incident or how their careers have changed or how they got into nursing initially. It is illustrated throughout with coloured drawings. The stories are addressed directly to the reader so you do feel as if the person is speaking directly to you. If reading as an adult (with less interest in nursing) you may find the stories repetitive after a while.
Overall – It would be an ideal gift for someone considering a career in nursing or who is interested in learning more about what nurses do and the huge variety of careers that can be attained in that role.

What a lovely book! Truly inspiring and having a household of nurses this landed well. £10 seems reasonable and its well written aiming at the influential age of 8+. Top marks, well done.

This is simply a wonderful, well put together book, from Nurses, Midwives and Support workers with stories, letters and tales for anyone looking to get into the nursing field.
The letters and stories are beautifully presented, with colourful illustrations throughout the book, emphasising the effort that has gone into this book. The world needs nurses, as they are the backbone of the health service, wherever you are in the world, and this book sets out to show how diverse, how wonderful and challenging the nursing career can be, and with the age range of 8-12 year olds, it is looking at the younger reader as a carer path. I will say that I feel that is a little young as it will likely be somewhat boring for younger ones.
Simply put, this is beautiful. As a slight aside, thank you to every single nurse out there, you are all simply amazing. So loving, caring and kind. Thank you

In terms of aesthetics, the book is beautiful. The pages are bright white, the print is on the larger side without too much text crammed onto any one page and the pictures help to break it all up. It’s a lightweight read and with each story being short at about 2-3 pages long, the book is ideal to pick up and put down. As for the stories, I’ve read the majority of them and it’s an interesting read, especially when they go into the ups and downs of their career. There were a few that felt a bit tedious as they read like a speech that just wanted to say how great their time nursing was, but with no real depth.
There was also a small group of stories together that felt like I was reading the same “I’ve wanted to be a nurse ever since I was a child”. They could have been spread out better. I came across some grammatical errors too. It’s definitely a book that puts nursing into a very positive light and dare I say, romanticises it in some ways. Nevertheless, they are written by those that are truly passionate about their role and the people that they care for.

A lovely encouraging book. I’m training to be a nurse and this book is inspiring. I’m really worried I won’t be good enough but reading this has given me hope that it wont be do bad.
Thank you

This is a beautifully presented hardback book, with some lovely illustrations. The listing states that the reading age is 8-12 years, although I’m not sure that children will engage with the ‘stories’ that well, some of which are a little ‘flat’.
I think it would be better for slightly older readers. I got it as a gift for my sister in law, who is a midwife.
Would make a lovely present for any qualified or student nurse/midwife.

This a lovely book the author wanted to make as a tribute for nurses. I am one of them and I really appreciate this.
These are stories from nurses caring for patients. To attract children, as this book is intended for the use of children over 8 years old, there are drawings too. To be perfectly honest I would probably see this suitable for older children but I don’t see 8 years old interested on these types of books.
Well made, good price. 50p of each book bought goes to the RCN (Royal college of nursing).
