It’s fabulous to find an easy to follow cookbook that’s predominantly savoury rather than the dessert-heavy options that many gluten-free cookbook authors offer. There are three meals in the day, and none of them are dessert, so cookbooks that are half junk food or sweet dishes can be frustrating, particularly if you try to eat healthily, require a low sugar diet, or simply view desserts as treats rather than everyday staples.
Sarah’s book includes a few sweet treats but focuses mainly on actual meals. And the kind that your family will happily eat and are easy to cook, rather than meals that require unusual (and often expensive) ingredients and take a ridiculous amount of time to prep and cook. Cooking isn’t a weekend leisure activity for most of us, but an everyday requirement, and Sarah’s recipes reflect this.
The recipes are laid out really well with gorgeous photos, and are easy to follow for any skill level. It’s also an ideal cookbook for somebody just beginning their gluten-free cooking journey as it contains a lot of information at the beginning about how to cook gluten-free, things to watch out for ref. cross contamination, and the hidden nasties in food.
There are other gluten-free recipes creators I like, but I really appreciate how practical Sarah’s cookbook is, and her focus on savoury meals rather than unhealthy, sugar-stuffed offerings.

My husband was recently diagnosed as coeliac and it really knocked him for six, he’s a toast and sandwich lover! I’d already seen Sarah’s recipes and posts on Facebook so this is where I headed straight away. She makes your usual everyday recipes gluten free so you feel that you aren’t missing out on the things you love. We were lucky enough to meet Sarah at the Free from Festival in Birmingham this year and she shared her shortcrust pastry recipe with the audience. Her book is a must have for all your gluten free makes. My husband feels more equipped to deal with his diagnosis and not so alone now. We both enjoy the gluten free recipes and I have to say you can’t taste the difference most of the time. Thank you Sarah for a wonderful book.

This book is brilliant. I’m gluten free and my daughter is dairy free. We made the fish pie last night, which is easy to make it dairy free. The taste was amazing. The recipes are so easy to follow and cheap to make. We have made the filling tonight for the chicken and ham pie. Thank you for making a book that doesn’t have loads of different ingredients, but still tastes amazing .

What an amazing book! I honestly believe if you’re just diagnosed coeliac this is all you need. I’ve followed Sarah’s blog for years, ever since I came across it whilst looking for info after my own diagnosis. Sarah is thorough, and her explanations are so well put, it’s as though you’re having a conversation with her. The book is beautifully laid out with gorgeous photographs. This book contains everything you need to know from starting your coeliac journey to making wonderful meals that family and friends will enjoy as much as you. Well done Sarah. You should be very proud!

Have been following the blog for a couple of years since being gluten free and a recipe has never failed. I like that she teaches you how to make your own pasta and noodles, how to make usually gluten filled recipes gluten free. But also just some recipes that everyone can eat. Her baking section is my favourite and it’s nice to know I don’t have to pay a fortune for gluten free treats in shops because I can easily make my own.

I had been following the ortho for quite some time, receiving her emails with recipes to try. I’ve been gluten-free for quite a while, but never had the foundations down. This book is perfect for anyone to beginning the gluten-free journey and requiring those foundations to build a pond so they can cook for themselves. Without having to worry. The recipes are simple, well explained, and are easy to follow. The book itself is super high quality and something I will be proud to display in. My kitchen is also wipe clean and very pretty to look at. I’m very excited to put this book to good use! Highly recommend! Just

I hadn’t made pastry for years – decades probably more accurate (had to search for the rolling pin) – and I’d never made gluten free pastry but I gave it a go with the short crust recipe from this lovely book. We had an old pumpkin pie filling that needed using up so I made two pastry cases and, wow! Even my sons were impressed and have suggested I should try the cheesecake next. After that I have my eye on the chicken and dumpling slo-cooker recipe. I love the additional tips, the clear layout, and the symbols which will make it so easy to cater for friends who have other allergies or dietary preferences.

Fabulous recipes in such a lovely cook book, highly recommend to anyone looking for tasty dishes with easy to follow recipes and every day ingredients. So many favourites now in our house! I have followed Sarah with her blogs for years after googling and finding her cheese dough balls which were a revelation and so easy to make. Looking forward to your next book – best of luck x
