Diddly Squat: Pigs Might Fly
£10.20
Get ready for another trip back to Clarkson’s Farm this Christmas with the brand new bestseller from our favourite wellie-wearing wannabe farmer, Jeremy Clarkson
Welcome back to Clarkson’s Farm. Since taking the wheel three years ago Jeremy’s had his work cut out. And it’s now clear from hard-won experience that, when it comes to farming, there’s only one golden rule:
Whatever you hope will happen, won’t.
Enthusiastic schemes to diversify have met with stubborn opposition from the red trouser brigade, defeat at the hands of Council Planning department, and predictable derision from Kaleb – although, to be fair, even Lisa had doubts about Jeremy’s brilliant plan to build a business empire founded on rewilding and nettle soup. And only Cheerful Charlie is still smiling about the stifling amount of red tape that’s incoming . . . But he charges by the hour.
Then there are the animals: the sheep are gone; the cows have been joined by a rented bull called Break-Heart Maestro;. the pigs are making piglets; and the goats have turned out to be psychopaths.
But despite the naysayers and (sometimes self-inflicted) setbacks, Jeremy remains irrepressibly optimistic about life at Diddly Squat. Because It’s hard not to be when you get to harvest blackberries with a vacuum cleaner.
And, after all, it shouldn’t just be Break-heart Maestro who gets to enjoy a happy ending . . .

My love for books 1 and 2 prompted me to buy this third one with excitement that was quickly extinguished when I started reading. While I love Clarksons shows and his books, I found this one hard to justify a price of £22. Large font, pages with nothing written in them, and only a handful of things actually relating to the farm. A lot of the chapters are things that you could argue are connected to the farm, but when they include things like finding someone to make a table, orchids and bird flu… I hate to sound ungrateful but half the book just isn’t interesting. Did he not want to give away anything in season 3? Did he run out of things to write about? Was he too busy? All I know is books 1 and 2 are far more entertaining.

Third book in the series telling you about Jeremy’s ups and downs on diddly squat farm. Thankfully jeremy is better at writing than farming. If you like Mr Clarkson you will love this book. As good as first two.

Sadly I’ve just finished this and will now have to wait and hope there are more. Every bit as funny as the other two. If I was a doctor I would prescribe his books for depression and anxiety, instant cure. Come on Jeremy, more please.

Having read absolutely everything JC has written over a number of years I was, as always, eager to read his latest release. However, an hour and a half after receiving it I had finished it. A huge typeface and a large number of illustrations pad out this already thin book and make it remarkably poor value for money, even with 50% off at Amazon. What is there is the usual spead of well observed, witty observations we expect and love but there just wasn’t enough of it. It just felt rushed and as you can probably tell, I’m pretty disappointed. You need to do better next year JC!

Not quite as funny as previous diddly squat books but still good, finished it in a few evenings as big print and a couple of blank page’s and a sketch between chapters, still typical Clarkson humour
