This book is great, well detailed and lovely diagrams. But please note it is American sign language not British sign language. To be honest, I don’t know why its listed in the BSL category. Would be a great gift for a friend who wants to use ASL in America, and is quite a funny present to receive 🙂

well for all the words that are inside even my bsl tutor thought it was americanised and not up to even our own dialects slang words

This book is on Amazon UK and is listed with other BSL books. IT IS NOT BSL IT IS ASL. (And very English ASL at that!)
The book does show the other versions it has, like Chinese, French, etc. But they do NOT have a BSL version.
No where on the listing does it say that it is BSL or ASL. This shows that the authors have NO idea how many Sign Languages there are out there.
VERY DISAPPOINTED!

This is a good ASL book but not much use for British Sign Language (BSL) users. However, there is an alternative which covers the basic signs called “Signs of a Sexual Nature: An Introduction to Some Sexual Signa Used in British Sign Language” by Martin D. Colville (1985) and you can buy it from Forest Books in the UK.

It says dirty and it means it! I was in stitches watching my girlfriend read through it, just a side note this is ASL not BSL so if you are studying British signs then a lot of these vary.

This book does exactly what is says on the tin – but users should be aware that it uses American Sign Language, NOT British Sign Language.
