His books are, what they are. I get what feelings this one tries to envoke. At the same point in life myself but I had hoped Nicky boy would go out in style. I also feel, it was very like the previous title especially at the start of the book… A lot of the very same lines and information copy and pasted over and I’m also gutted a certain computer geek wasn’t carried over from the previous storyline. But the ending, gads! It was like watching the end of a Hollyoaks episode!

In order to fully get the plots and back stories it’s better if you have read the rest of the series

Another well written story. Not the usual guts, fire fights and bullets. More of a gentleman retiring gracefully with a retirement themed party. Good bye to Nick Stone I’ve read the lot and really enjoyed the series.

If – as it seems – this is to be the final Nick Stone book, it is ending the whole thing with a whimper not a bang.
Clearly McNab has tried to find a way to justify Nick’s years of being a naughty boy, but this tale (no spoilers!) never really gets going and ends in a very unsatisfactory mixed up way.
Much like (say) Godfather III it would have been better if we’d just been left to wonder what had become of Nick – rather than this book of confused saccharine moralising.

Having read all of the Nick Stone series from Andy McNab this novel gives a suitable end to that series but still leaves an opening for another Nick Stone novel to be created. The story itself is unusual and inventive.

I’m not going to mince words, but for me it was a long drawn out yarn. Not the thrilling exploits l expected from an Andy McNab tale.
