Dukes of Ruin (Dark College Bully Romance): Royals of Forsyth University Book 4

£4.80

The crowns of Forsyth Royalty aren’t built with jewels. They’re forged in blood and sacrifice.

They say a parent should never pick favorites, but my d*ck of a father, Lionel Lucia, is no Ward Cleaver. He’s a Count—a King of Forsyth—and all he ever wanted was a daughter to marry off and a son to secure his legacy. My sister’s marriage to the leader of the Counts would keep him in control of his house. If he’d had a son, things would have been perfect.

Instead, he got me.

Too wild. Too rash. Too rebellious. I’m half as pretty as my sister, and twice as stubborn. I grew up under the brutal force of our father’s fist, but it didn’t break me. If anything, it just made me more determined to strike back. And I would have, too.

If my sister hadn’t disappeared.

I’ve spent the last year at the mercy of the Kings, caged and tormented. But the three thugs who arrive in the night, masked and vicious, decide to take me for their own.

There’s the Maniac, with his razor-sharp smile and frantic eyes, thrashing around me in a hurricane of hard touches and whispered words. By the time Remy’s done marking me, I’m not sure there’ll be anything left to call my own.

The Lurker, with his malevolent stare and bitter tongue, hates me the most. It’s easier with him, knowing that he could never want me. If being the object of Sy’s resentment is bad, then being the object of his desire just might be my undoing.

The Creep is the worst of all three. Not because he’s meaner or harsher, but because he’s neither. Two hundred pounds of inked, imposing muscle, Nick Bruin has been following me since I first became a pawn. Now, he means to make me his.

The Dukes are known for winning with their fists, but transforming Lavinia Lucia from the Kings’ captive to their unwilling Duchess will be their biggest match yet.

The saga continues in book 4 of the contemporary, dark romance, Royals of Forsyth series, where the Duke’s reign will be one of Ruin, Madness and Peril.

**Please read trigger warnings before reading this book! It is a Dark Romance and contains a lot of triggering content!!**

I just want to start of by questioning why on earth I waited this long to read this book! I read the Lords books back in 2021, but after failing to get into this book back then I put it down and forgot about it (I was head over heels in love with the Lords and just couldn’t switch off from them to enjoy the story). But damn am I glad a bookish friend on Instagram gave me the motivation to get back into it!

So I went through this book with lots of questions. And I must admit I really really didn’t like Lavinia. Now I won’t lie I didn’t like her for most of the book. I don’t like the “I’m better than you because I’m from a rich family” personality. However, I personal felt her character grew a little bit nearer the end and as you learn more about what she’s been through you kind of relate a bit more.

I love the guys – Remy is just adorable in a very crazy bit totally relatable way – the way his character is portrayed and written is amazing, to be able to capture what is a real life condition in such a great and realistic way is amazing! Sy had me on the fence right up until the last few chapters. Nick on the other hand – now I know I should probably hate him, but I just can’t. We see the love and obsession his has for Lavinia through the Lords books, so I kind of expected this level of obsession and craziness. I get he’s done things that aren’t “good” but all he wants is for her to love him back.

I love the world building and character building. Each main character grows a bit on this book as well which is amazing! And I’m really excited to see what happens next.

I have a lot of questions that need answers and I’m excited to find out what they are.

**Please please please read the trigger warnings!! This is a dark book!!**

I enjoyed this book and wanted to keep wading but I wanted it to go somewhere but it kept going round in circles. The end there is finally a spot of light, I’ll see where that leads in book 2 or 5 depending on how you look at it.

I never know how to review these books the way I want to. Because what I want to say is how dare you do this to me again? I paid in blood, sweat and tears for the Lords and now here we are and you’re taking it out of me again but in a completely different way so that it hurts just as much as when you did it the first time. But I also want to say that EVERYONE should be reading these books because they are by far the best books I’ve ever read.

I absolutely loved the Lords series and if you haven’t read that then you should definitely do that before jumping into this. But if you have read Lords and are wondering if that standard is the same then yes. My main concern with this new story was wondering if it was just going to be too similar to the first but these authors are brilliant and just find so many brand new and inventive ways to extract your heart from your chest and ter it into a thousand tiny pieces.

Nick, Sy and Remy are completely different to the Lords and just as messed up in their own special ways. I kinda love Sy but I would want like at least a 2 metre gap between us at all times. Nick both infuriates and terrifies me and perhaps the scariest thing of all to me is that Remy makes more sense to me than any person actually on this planet ever has to me. Really messes with your head, y’know?

But that’s why I reaf these books. That’s why they’re so brilliant. So perfect. The words, the characters, the worlds. They burrow their way into your head and they will not be moved. I’ve planned a tattoo around these books because I feel like I need a visible imprint of the mark they’ve made on my soul, the way they’ve impacted me as a person and of how I’m never going to be quite the same as I was before them. That’s what’s really special about then, the lasting effect.

Once I started, I was captivated by the Dukes and their control over the story’s protagonist, Lavinia Luciano, also known as Nick’s “little bird”. Despite my initial plan to read multiple books at once, I could not help but be drawn in by the plot and characters. Lavinia is a strong, fierce, and sassy FMC, and while I enjoyed the book, her character stood out to me the most. Initially, I found myself drawn to Nick’s character and even found his possessiveness and control appealing. However, as the story progressed, he became overwhelming and started to grate on me (he will have a chance to redeem himself later on). So, I found myself rooting for Remy (Protecting him at all COSTS) and Sy, who are my favorite Dukes. Overall, I enjoyed the themes, plot, and characters, and I’m eager to dive into the next book.|
