I think it’s brilliant. The details is incredible. It’s on the dark side but still very beautiful

Udon continue to be the worst for artbooks with both volumes of this book. The first I received had a tear on the inside of the cover and a huge amount of pages had folds in. The cover on the spine crease had also bubbled and warped. The replacement had the same issues with the spine. This is far from the first Udon book with a bad build quality.
The images as stated by others are dark. The layout is poor, lots of wasted space, these could have been in 1 volume. The book is thick, so the double page spreads often lose the focal point of the image in the page fold. This book is mostly comprised of final images of designs, little to no concepts or developmental images. No text description either. Overall a very poor couple of books that don’t reflect the quality of the studio or game. A shame this studio and Capcom continue to use Udon for their books

The positive of this book is that the pictures are given plenty of space on the page to really showcase their prowess. However, the pictures themselves like the world of elden ring are very devoid of vivid colours. This initially probably seems like a good thing to be consistent with the game and I would usually agree however the pictures are framed on a page of light grey, as a result the dark and dreary world of elden ring in these pictures are hard to witness. In the world of elden ring and these pictures there is no light (when playing the game the sky was almost always overcast) and it makes it a chore to try and divine what happens in each frame in this book unfortunately, imagine setting the game to min in the brightness settings and you have this artbook essentially, very difficult to see anything.

I love artbooks, but in all honesty I found this one dissapointing. The images aren’t laid out very well and are quite dark, and lacking in colour. A lot of the images look more like screenshots than art. Would be nice to see early versions of environments, characters etc and how they progressed.
