Elizabeth II: A Queen for Our Time

As a Getty Images royal photographer, Chris Jackson has been granted privileged access to the monarch and the British royal family. He has documented the Queen s official engagements over the past two decades, during a period of seismic changes in the British monarchy. In photographs documenting public and private moments, and accompanied by warm and engaging text offering a personal perspective and behind-the-shot anecdotes, Jackson captures the Queen’s great elegance and charm. From royal tours to hosting state dinners, this book takes us to the heart of what it means to be the head of the British royal family. Much has been made of the Queen’s enduring style, and here a spotlight also is shone on the coats, dresses, evening gowns, jewels, bags, and accessories that make up the Queen’s coordinated wardrobe. Uniting all that is British as an ambassador and statesperson, Queen Elizabeth II has seen more of the planet and its people than any other head of state, and has engaged with them like no other monarch in British history; she is unquestionably a global voice for our time.

Beautiful book with absolutely loads of gorgeous photos! Very happy.

No doubt you would have to be a fan of the royal family/monarchist to buy something like this. So when I heard the author, who’s previous book, “Modern Monarchy”, was releasing another one I saved up and bought it. I love it! Pictures are great, a little less writing than the last publication, but all in all it came in pristine condition and am very happy with it.
The book is well made and covers the following chapters:
– An extraordinary reign.
– Duty & Dignity.
– Global Icon.
– Never out of fashion.
– Family first.
– Horses and Highlands.
– Passing the baton.
So if you like the royal family, then this is the collectable for you!

This is a beautiful book by a great photographer who seems to capture many of the most special moments of Her Majesty the Queen and the rest of the Royal Family. His talent and love of photography really shines in this book. Chris seems to have the great ability of bringing the people closer to the joy and magic, HM and the Royal family create.

Unusually for a book written by an award-winning photographer, the accompanying detailed descriptions of the often historic events covered by the amazing photos, the interesting background histories, interwoven with stories of Chris Jackson’s personal involvement, make it quite fascinating and keep the reader’s interest to the end. The photos are brilliant, but the stories are a bonus.
A book to treasure for years to come!

This book was my Christmas treat and, at a gloomy time of the year has brought colour and cheer into the house with its superb photography (you have to like the subject of course!).

Although not the cheapest book on the market covering the reign of Queen Elizabeth II, it is genuinely worth every penny. The photos are so much better than the usual ones we see. Well done on not only taking the photos but also curating them into this beautiful book that would grace anyone’s coffee table, in any stately home, castle or palace in the country. A book to hand down to your descendants.
