Elton John All the Songs: The Story Behind Every Track

£3.80

This first-of-its-kind catalog of Elton John’s decades-long career tells the story of one of rock’s all-time greatest artists, album-by-album and track-by-track.

Organized chronologically and covering every album and song that Sir Elton Hercules John has ever released, Elton John All the Songs draws upon years of research to tell the behind-the-scenes stories of how each song was written, composed, and recorded, down to the instruments used and the people who played them. Spanning more than fifty-years of work from Elton and his longtime collaborator, Bernie Taupin, this book details the creative processes that resulted in seminal albums like Goodbye Yellowbrick Road, Madman Across the Water, and Tumbleweed Connection, as well as Academy Award wins for 1995’s Lion King and 2020’s Rocketman. Newer work like The Lockdown Sessions, which released in 2021, is also featured alongside Billboard stats, tour dates, producing and mixing credits, and other insider details that will keep fans turning pages. Starting with the artist’s early days working as a studio musician in London, and featuring interviews with actors, musicians, collaborators, and confidantes, Elton John All the Songs offers readers the most detailed portrait of the artist and his creative process that has ever been produced. Featuring hundreds of vivid photographs that celebrate one of music’s most visually arresting performers, Elton John All the Songs is the authoritative guide to one of rock’n’roll’s greatest stars.

This huge & rather heavy book covers all of Elton John’s recording career in great detail. Loads of information & good quality photos dating back to the 1960s. A must for any EJ fan.

Wow,wow, wow this book is absolutely stunning. There are always songs in books like this that will be missed but it doesn’t detract from the depth and quality of this enormous offering. Been a fan for more than fifty years and this simply adds more to an extensive library and has to be up there with the best books released about EJ ever. Can’t stop looking at it. Highly recommended. One minor error, they have the release date for Rock of the Westies down as the same as its predecessor Captain Fantastic.

I was a bit worried about the price tag on this but it is 100% worth it. A real encyclopaedia with interesting facts and stunning photos. I could spend all day looking through this book. It’s a real work of art. I just love it, it’s a must for any Elton fan, I think.

All The Songs. Every track as stated on the cover.
Unfortunately the authors have missed out a considerable amount of songs.
For instance the 4 songs recorded from 1990 included on ‘To Be Continued’
Also missing are Elton’s tracks from ‘Aida’ ‘The Muse’ ‘The Road to Eldorado’ ‘Billy Elliott’ & ‘The Vampire Lestat’ and glaring omissions from the ‘Rocketman’ film & the remake of ‘The Lion King’
Also lacking are many of the musicians from each track. A good presentation however but a little disappointing. A softback version could be done in the future with the above included.
