His 1970 breakthrough single ’Your Song’ began his domination of the pop charts and established his credentials to fill the post Beatles landscape with his unique take on piano based rock and pop ballads. Not since 50s stars Jerry Lee Lewis and Little Richard had a man and his piano made such an impact on modern music. Few would have imagined that Elton’s early success and real emotional connection with his fans would be sustained over the next 50 years to see him become a singer songwriter extraordinaire and one of the most successful musical theatre composers in history.

Not completed reading yet but impressed with production quality and full colour photographs – good addition to my EJ collection at the conclusion of the ” Rocketman’s” epic live concert career

As a longtime fan it’s normal to buy most releases. I just wish that someone would proof read the text and make sure photo captions are correct. One photo is noted as being Elton at home in Windsor 1972. I don’t think he bought the house in Windsor until 1975 so the photo is more likely Virginia Water in Surrey.
Another shows him on a long driveway in 1978. The year is correct but any fan worth their salt would know it as the long walk at Windsor Castle.
Sorry to be picky but a lot of publications these days seem to be rush released by folk who don’t know their subject.

Saw him at Vicarage Road in 2022 and this book provides great memories of Elton over his career. Nicely produced and printed. Good value.
