“Christopher Edge, who creates brilliant, plotty novels with agglomerations of science and maths, has surpassed himself with his latest story…Gamers will love this mad, intense thriller… reminiscent of Lord of the Flies, Squid Game and the Indiana Jones films…Perfect for puzzle-hungry beginner horror fans who require lashings of jeopardy ” – Alex O’Connell, The Times
“This is an intense, rollercoaster of a read, with an almighty twist towards the end that caught me completely off guard. Perfect for readers who like fast-paced, spine-tingling reads.” – Sarah Webb, The Irish Independent

When twelve-year-old Ami arrives at The Escape, she thinks it’s just a game – the ultimate escape room with puzzles and challenges to beat before time runs out. Meeting her teammates, Adjoa, Ibrahim, Oscar and Min, Ami learns from the Host that they have been chosen to save the world and they must work together to find the Answer. But as he locks them inside the first room, they quickly realise this is no ordinary game.
From a cavernous library of dust to an ancient Mayan tomb, a deserted shopping mall stalked by extinct animals to the command module of a spaceship heading to Mars, the perils of The Escape seem endless. Can Ami and her friends find the Answer before it’s too late?

Although we finished this book which I read to my 11 year old son, he was disappointed with the ending, which I won’t spoil. I didn’t find it matched the description I had read too well; which is that it was great for those that love math and solving problems – it didn’t really live up to my expectations in its plot and storyline. We’ve gifted it on as it won’t be read again.

Bought as an audio book, and although we have listened it all with our 10 years old, it is not easy listening on car journey.

Purchased this for my granddaughter as she loves listening to me read to her at bed time. It’s a type of story you can read many times. It’s very well written, and a beautiful storyline too.
