Some books are definitely set to become staple references throughout a teacher’s career. It’s clear that both authors have put love, care and attention into finding the best way to support the teaching of grammar.
Broken into many useful chapters, each one is like having the authors as supportive colleagues/mentors who guide you clearly through what to do and why it matters. The research and rationale is clear and the content is precise.
A particular highlight has been Chapter 5, which focuses on reading. The ideas contained within are adaptable and applicable to a myriad of situations. Using examples that walk through the process of analysing grammar in reading, it showcases how one can apply it to their own practice and why it will be beneficial.
Highly recommended for English teachers and any other subject too.
TLDR; As the title of the book says, it’s essential.
