‘Infinitely more readable than the average journalism memoir, and decidedly more important.’ – Sathnam Sanghera, The Times
‘So engaging. You feel as if he is talking to you, sharing ideas and thoughts, as if you were a friend.’ – Yasmin Ahlibai-Brown
As a Bolton teenager with a paper round, Clive Myrie read all the newspapers he delivered from cover to cover and dreamed of becoming a journalist. In this deeply personal memoir, he tells how his family history has influenced his view of the world, introducing us to his Windrush generation parents, a great grandfather who helped build the Panama Canal, and a great uncle who fought in the First World War, later to become a prominent police detective in Jamaica.
He reflects on how being black has affected his perspective on issues he’s encountered in thirty years reporting some of the biggest stories of our time (most recently from Ukraine), showing us how those experiences gave him a better idea of what it means to be an outsider. He tells of his pride in his roots, but his determination not to be defined by his background in dealing with the challenges of race and class to succeed at the highest level.
Moving, engaging, revealing, Everything is Everything is a story of love and hate – but also hope.

Beautifully written, with some amusing parts. My family has never had a colour bar, all are welcome
and I find a lot of Clive Myrie’s book both informative and shocking. Of course I have always known about the discrimination but I did not realise it was so bad in so many parts of the world.

Clive tells it well, and it’s definitely an eye opening look into his life and what he’s done.
It also hits a lot of notes around the current political situation that make you wish a politician would read it

An excellent book. So thought provoking. As a white woman this is the first book I’ve read that gives a balanced view of racism, that gives me an understanding of how ‘others’ live and feel. And I can just hear Clive’s familiar voice as I read!

I think this will be a very interesting read.

Not quite finished reading this, however it is a good read. I love Clive’s voice when he presents the news

This book is very well written and clearly calls out the utter stupidity of racism in this and other countries around the world. If everyone, regardless of their colour, were to read this honest book and show a bit more tolerance and respect, then the world would be a better place for all of us.
Anyone who has seen Clive hosting Mastermind will know that he didn’t get the job just because he is Black but because he is a natural presenter as well as an excellent journalist.
