I love all things FF so this was an easy buy for me.
Yes, there could be more art in there and I saw some complaints about the newer games not being covered extensively. However, you get a lot of high-quality pictures of the pixel art from the FF 1 – 6 (since these were all pixel art) as well as characters from the newer games ‘pixelated’.
It is nice to see exactly how the art was created (what colours, the pattern) and to have it all in one book.
Keep in mind that this is mainly an art book and does not contain any explanations of individual designs or interviews with people that worked on the game. There is a lengthy interview with Kazuko Shibuyain the back of the book, which is interesting.
Overall a good purchase.

This book contains a history of how square pixels can produce great artwork and gave me a reason to fire up Minecraft again. It contains images of most of the pixel art from FF I-VI including monsters, hero’s, ships etc and in interview with the artist.
Solid hardback came undamaged and looks nice on any book shelf.
