I’m a chromatic harmonica player who needed the discipline of playing along with somebody else, my timing is awful. This is a book with all the well known carols each melody beautifully played twice, unusual, the size of the manuscript is large and easy to read. The CD alone makes it worth the price of the book. I was tempted to award only four stars as there is are not separate accompaniment tracks on the CD, but balanced against quality and value of the book together with the beautifully played carols I decided it deserved 5 stars.

Son has been learning to play violin for a few months now and these books were recommended by his tutor. So easy to follow and easy to learn. I bought this one for him to learn a few wee tunes in the run up to.christmas, he really enjoys these books and that’s the way it should be when learning ..it should be fun too.

I absolutely love this book! I bought it for last Christmas, only a couple of months into my violin lessons and really enjoyed learning all the tunes. The accompaniments are really lovely and make it easy for even a beginner to sound good. I especially like the duets, which were fantastic to play with my teacher in lessons. Even though the pieces are not that hard, I also felt my playing improved a lot by the end of December. I had just finished ‘Fiddle Time Joggers’ and the Christmas book acts as a helpful bridge between that and the next book, ‘Fiddle Time Runners’ because it introduces low second finger with the second octave of G Major, which then comes up a lot more in ‘Runners.’ I’ve just taken out the book again ready for this Christmas and all the tunes came flooding back. My playing has come on a lot in a year but there’s still plenty for the book to offer. I have started adding slurs and learning some of the duet parts. My one criticism would be no backing track without the violin. I hope they release these as they have with the other books. Otherwise, top marks!

Well packed & arrived really fast, my music teacher recommended this book so I could play Christmas carols leading up to Christmas at the end of my lesson, it’s very easy to follow I’m grade 4 working towards grade 5 , but the music peices are more on the level of grade 1-2 so most should be able to play, it also has a backing CD & is great as you can play along too if you can, but no worries if you can’t as you can still play the carols without the backing if you are a beginer…….

It is a very useful book with all main christmas tunes one needs. 3 stars is only for the product being behind the current customers’ tech level. Listening to the tune one plays is very important, but nowadays hardly anyone uses a CD – most of laptops have stopped producing the embedded CD player and we don’t own a CD player for last 10 years. It is about time to upload the tracks into itunes or provide the buyers with a links where we could download the tracks to a smartphone or a tablet.

Bought this as an advent present for my daughter and she loved it. She could do most of the pieces sight reading straight away but found the Tchaikovsky one harder. It was great as she could play to the family on Boxing day. The songs are in a range of keys and some come with duets. The CD was good for her to get the tune of some of the unfamiliar carols. At the end there was Auld Lang Syne which wasn’t very Christmassy? Very good price as well. Only complaint is the pages aren’t as good quality as the other Fiddle time books.
