So many mixed reviews and some people seemingly getting quite cross with theses books….which I find incredibly funny!

The author is not proposing this as a work of art, and nor is anyone else for that matter….it is simply a trilogy of an unusual love story with some fantasy sex thrown in…(well quite a lot actually) ….if you want your standard boy meets girl , hearts and flowers ( because lets face it, THAT is soooo realistic isn’t it ) then this book is not for you ….if you don’t want to read or Indeed believe that sex can be out of the ‘norm’ ( whatever ‘mormal’ is ) , then again this book s not for you.

I took the trilogy with me on holiday and enjoyed every one of them. My pure pleasure in a bit of fantasy world of mr grey and ana. I personally loved the detailed parts when describing the sexual pleasures of both of them …and in response to one critic who said that it was unbelievable that a 21yr old virgin had no gag reflexes ….perhaps you just haven’t met one yet but they do exist. …As for the fact mr grey is unbelievably rich? …well they do exist too people….maybe not in your world and indeed not mine, but look at the rich list and you will find people there that travel by helicopter.

I loved the erotica or porn as some people would call it. Again this shows we are all different and what one calls porn, another sees it as simple normal sex…..this is what makes us all individual and so passionate about loving or hating something…..is it porn? Maybe….but you know your own mind, you know what these books are about, so that should be your deciding factor before getting these books.

I enjoyed these books as a bit of escapism and fantasy without being the dull ‘ mills and boon’ ….now back to reality!

Great story, not at all what I expected. Loved the books, can’t wait to read more of E L James books in the future

First off, this isn’t a trilogy in the sense of three separate but connected works; it’s a long story that’s been chopped up, rather arbitrarily. So if you’re going to read it, you’ll need all three books.

Although it’s being touted as a woman’s book, full of relationship difficulties and “What did he mean when he said X?” (He’s a man, so he means X!), it also features a helicopter, a private jet, guns, blackmail, kidnapping, boats, jet skis and a car chase. I hope I’m not giving away the plot. So there’s plenty to keep us males happy, including, of course, the purple sex passages that have made the book infamous.

Actually I found the sex descriptions repetitive, tame, unimaginative and oddly prudish at times. The dominant / submissive aspects aren’t very extreme, mostly a bit of bottom spanking on his part and “Oh my!” on hers. “His eyes darkened, his breath was ragged … my inner goddess was doing the tango … I exploded around him.” Okay the first time, but the fifth time you read it, it’s become tedious. It gets to the point where you think, “Oh no, they’re at it again, I’d better skip the next three pages.”

The author’s husband is a screenwriter, and this shows in the construction of the book, which I’m sure he had a hand in. It’s typical “character arc” stuff: the characters start off in one place, develop, and end up in another, their changes brought about by confrontation, conflict and reaction to events. This is classic Screenwriting 101. The male and female leads begin far apart but get much closer by the end. So, it’s not very different from Pride and Prejudice, except that Jane Austen wasn’t into BDSM — as far as we know. Mr Darcy had £5,000 a year and Mr Grey has around $200,000,000 according to my calculations, so they’re both mega-rich eligible bachelors. And the heroines aren’t gold-diggers, oh no, they love them in spite of their money, not because of it.

Ana and Christian’s relationship is mainly based on mutual lust, so I wonder how well it will last. The story has a happy ending, but I feel the door has been left open for a possible sequel.

At £8.99 for the trilogy Kindle download, this is good value; it will keep you entertained for hours. Good unchallenging reading matter for your summer hols.

It doesn’t matter how many times I read these books, I fall a little more in love with them each time!!

By now most of us know who Mr Grey is and also Ana. What draws me to these books every time is the journey these two take individually and together. Now most people read these books for the kink, I must admit it was the very reason I bought them many moons ago as it was all that people were talking about and I was intrigued BUT its not the reason I go back. As I mentioned before what pulls me back every time is their journeys and the love story. The way Christian changes throughout the books as he falls for Ana, even though he doesn’t realise it at first. The way Ana also changes and grows into an amazing woman who is brave, defiant and very strong willed. Its about the path that two people take when they love each other and the subtle changes that both people make, mostly subconsciously to adapt to each other. Yes I have mentioned the kink and that and the RROP play a big part in the story but to me its not what stands out. We all take different things from every story and I guess what I take makes me a hopeless romantic and I’m proud of that!! I also know a lot of people don’t like the books or the contents of the books and that is an opinion that they are entitled too just like this is mine.

I love all of the characters in the books from The Greys, Mrs Jones, Taylor and the security team, Ros, Dr Flynn, Ray and Jose Snr, Kate and Jose even the evil ‘Mrs Robinson’ Elena. the list is endless but they all make help to make the story work, they are there to add seriousness, humour, tears and drama, you have to love the drama because there is just so much of it. We all have our favourites and the story wouldn’t be quite the same without them.

I could go on forever about my love for these books and which bits are my favourites but there are so many and the would contain so many spoiler so I will stop here and leave you to get the books for yourselves and make up your own minds.
