really dope art and fun minion inc! looking forward to book two for endwalker…7.0 is close pals
by Mr. P.J.P
Here we are, the 8th art book in the FFXIV series, between these and the Encyclopedia Eorzea (the 3rd will be out in the not too distant future), I’m going to need a whole new bookshelf!
As you would expect, this artbook covers Endwalker in its entirety, pages for character art, trials, dungeons, locations, attire and equipment plus other miscellaneous art. Its a big, heavy and very beautiful book.
I am still disappointed there are so few notes and artist commentary that we saw in the first art books, while there is a two page comments section at the back, its still a shame not to read more insight into the very talented people that FFXIV owes much to.
There is also no real patch artwork, so don’t expect any artwork of Zero, the Void or even those lovely character artwork pieces that were included in Patch 2 (in fact, there is very little in the way of character art in this book). That presumably will have to wait for art book 9, which will cover the Endwalker patches up to 2.5.
Anyway, if you are a FFXIV diehard, you are probably doomed to continue collecting these wonderful books. Its as you would expect by this point, there are no huge surprises or treats (the minion code is cute), and this book has one of the best front covers of the series so far, I’ll grant you that.
Until next time, inspector!
