£55.10
Building on the success of the first edition, this textbook takes a ‘how, why, what’ approach to financial accounting, interwoven in each chapter. From chapter one, students understand how financial information is prepared and presented, why it is prepared and presented in this way, and what the resulting financial information means for users. Designed for students taking a step beyond their introductory financial accounting training, the textbook equips them with all the key tools they will require when they enter professional practice.
Reflective of the latest International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and International Accounting Standards (IAS), this textbook delivers concise, clear explanations of all the key issues in accounting standards that students need to know. Content maps to professional accounting body syllabi, making this the perfect choice for accounting courses which offer exemptions.
Chapters are rich with 3 types of examples to enhance understanding:
– Illustrative examples of real-world situations;
– Worked examples demonstrating the calculation of figures required for financial statements;
– Extracts from company annual reports demonstrate how the theory relates to financial reporting in practice.
More engaging, more balanced, and more applied than other offerings, this is exactly the textbook your financial reporting students need!
An extensive Online Resource Centre accompanies the textbook and includes:

I bought it used but it’s literally like it’s new

As a chartered accountant I’ve always found it difficult to find detailed text books on accountancy that meet the standards of the accountancy professional bodies. This book is really useful as it is very detailed and explains topics clearly and completely. It is a great accompaniment to my other reference books. I wish I had such a book many years ago when I was studying for the ACA qualification!!

Great book for financial reporting

First of all I’d like to give 1 star for the condition of the book. I bought it from Amazon warehouse but I didn’t expect it to be so well-thumbed. The cover is torn in a few places, the book has been well read and is grubby. Every single page is wrinkled giving the impression that the book has been exposed to water and left to dry out.
Regarding the book, it is probably excellent but for a beginner like me, some of it is not so clear. In all fairness, I’ve possibly bitten off more than I can chew by using this book as an introduction to accountancy. There are enough 5 star reviews from other people who seem to already have accountancy experience.
It’s a well laid out book and I like the use of the purple/blue text highlighting key points. I will persevere with it because I’m sure it is full of information and I look forward to the day when I understand it inside out. Hope that helps.

The product was meant to arrive on the 22nd however arrived on the 9th which was a brilliant surprise for me! Having the module book 4 weeks into semester would not have been the most ideal.
This product contains the key ingredients to achieve the majority of my accounting modules in first year accounting; looking back i wish this book was suggested to me much earlier because the basics of these concepts are also covered in this book. And now, in second year this will help me with 2 more modules and again in third year. This book is a necessity for success for any accounting student.
For a student who does allot of independent study outside of university hours to get the most out of my education, £25 (second hand but new) I cannot argue with whatsoever, this will be one of the best purchases for my academic achievements.
It contains many examples with answers provided, guiding me through the key concepts of financial accounting preparing the student (me) for future endeavors in terms of achieving the desired grade and acquiring the knowledge needed for the real life after university.
Furthermore, discussing the book and its usefulness with my lecturer, he suggested to hold onto it not only till I’ve completed second and third year but for my post university life, when I enter a job this will be a priceless asset to hold onto.
Spending £25 on this, or even more is a brilliant investment, can’t wait to succeed with it, I would advise this to not only a second year accounting student, but to get this book from the beginning.

I didn’t even get the right book. It was a completely different author and this book is thinner than the actual one. Truly disappointed because I was looking forward to begin my studies but now I can’t. Thanks for nothing I guess
