In order to maximise their performance in training and in matches, rugby players need to understand the importance of energy and nutrients and their role in the working of the body. It is also vitally important that they make appropriate food choices and that they eat and drink those foods in the correct quantities. My son loves this book

Liked the analysis. Not a cook book but the sort of advice needed for young athletes. Any mum could cope with the meals

I have a 14yr old son who’s very much into his rugby, he’s now at the point where he wants to ‘bulk up’ and improve his strength. Clearly I didn’t want him to go about this the wrong way so I bought this book upon a recommendation.
It’s very well put together and simple to understand, ok, some of the more in depth parts about what different vitamins etc do can require more concentration to get through but, on the whole, it tells you all you need to know about what to eat, why to eat it, and even when. It’s basically a well put together manual to help anyone who is serious about their rugby to get to where they want to go.
Even, if like me – an unfit vet’ / 3rd XV, who’s just rediscovered the playing side of the game after too many years out or, you just want to get fit and eat better, then this book will be a really valuable read and reference.
