This is a brilliant new edition quiz book for football fans everywhere. ‘Football School The Greatest Ever Quiz Book’ is the second quiz book in the series and asks a lot of interesting and tough questions for anyone who is a fan of football. The book begins with an introduction by the authors before each chapter focuses on a different aspect of football such as names, trophies and tournaments, balls and bowls (stadiums) and clever coaches, etc. Each chapter has a brief introduction to it followed by the quiz questions, with twenty questions per subject being asked.

I already own the first quiz book from the Football School series ‘Football School The Amazing Quiz Book’, and this new one is even more interesting with each of the twenty questions in each chapter being a multiple choice with various answers. Although some of the questions ask you to guess the answer out of the four choices given, many of the questions also ask you to do things like match the various things listed to others, such as names of certain football players to the tattoos they have, or to match the mascots to their teams, etc. A lot of the questions in this quiz book ask you to select several answers as correct, or to match certain things together, making this book feel like an even more in-depth quiz than a typical quiz book.

One thing I love about this book is just how fun a lot of the questions are and the interesting things you learn from answering them. As someone who doesn’t watch a lot of football, I found myself fascinated by some of the more silly things that have happened on, and off, the pitch, and there are a lot of questions that focus on the more bizarre facts as well as the more straight forward ones too. I particularly enjoyed the last chapter which spoke of the wacky football world where it seems anything goes, and I couldn’t help but laugh at some of the strange things that have happened to rid certain curses from stadium grounds or what animal has caused a whole match to be halted for some time, etc. Each quiz question is fun to answer and you can find each of the answers on the back page of the book.

Along with the fun chapter beginnings and the quiz questions, you can find lots of fun illustrations in black, white and grey and I really like Spike Gerrell’s sense of humour in drawing so many of these. The images on the pages don’t always reflect the correct answers to the quiz questions, but they are very funny to look at and I couldn’t help but laugh and smile at so many of the illustrations on each page.

Overall this is a fun new quiz book and another great addition to the Football School series of books which is perfect for any football crazy girls or boys. The book has a lovely shiny gold cover this time and is packed full of amazing and fun questions and facts about the game, both men’s and women’s football and even mentioning blind football too! And although I did find an error in one of the questions and its answer in the back pages, which asked to choose five (out of ten possible options) to answer the question, with only two answers given in the answers page (not sure if it’s an error in the question that should have asked for two of ten, of the lack of five of the answers), but I don’t think there are any more errors and it does make for some interesting and fun reading, even if you don’t know all the answers as you’ll discover some very interesting facts along the way, and you might be even better at the quiz if you’ve read any of the Football School books before too! Overall a great and fun read for any fan of football and of this book series too. ????
