The book is clear and concise and everything seems well explained but this is somewhat marred by the typos and errors in the book. The exercises at the end of each chapter and their corresponding answers, far too often, do not match. Sometimes it is the amounts that do not match and other times it is the details where, for example, if the exercise says Smith, the answer may refer to Jones or any other random name that seemingly springs to the mind of the author. Considering the whole subject and its emphasis is based on care and accuracy, it really isn’t good enough. The publishers really need to pull their socks up!

Only 140 pages in so far but a huge number of errors detected especially in the Answers to the Review Questions at the back of the book. Most errors are obvious to spot and give the impression that the book was not proofread once it came back from the printers.
Here are some examples of the errors from the Answers to the Review Questions at the back of the book:
Answer 8.5
Cash at Bank 8,000 – should be 8,300
Capital Balance at 1/8/16 100,000 – should be 60,000
Net Profit therefore 5,000 – should be 45,300
Balancing figures 88,000 – should be 88,300
Answer 9.7
Trial balance total 7,490 – should be 8,490
Answer 9.9
Motor expenses 18,600 – yet question states 1860
There are numerous other errors but I haven’t got the the time to list them all here

A great book for accounting students, or for self-study in bookkeeping. Well laid out, good explanations and a great technique for learning double entry – simple yet comprehensive.
I am an accounting student and I happily recommend this book.

Excellent book for learner accountants. Better presented than 30 years ago when I used it to do my AAT course.
