This book is really helpful if you have Dyslexia. The font is gentle on the eye and there are many colours on the pages that are soothing and cause less reader stress. There are many introductions that will be relevant to the student’s mental health nurse training journey. These include pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics and the policies surrounding mental health/physical health and public health promotion. There are sections on the Recovery Star model and risk assessments. Lots of infographics and the information is easier to read when you are in your first year.

I am currently approaching my 3rd year as a mental health student nurse and this book is absolutely brilliant. Not only does this book teach student mental health nurses about the fundamentals of mental health nursing, but also encourages students to think critically about mental health nursing. Each section relates to student nursing and asks you questions to make you think about your own views and how this might affect your practice. I love the Wiley Blackwell books as they as straight forward and detailed, yet not to packed with knowledge to the point where you become overwhelmed. The way the text is set out is clear and involves the student very well. I haven’t put this book down since I got it! So happy with it as other mental health books I have read can be confusing and are not explained clearly. The book came in excellent condition. I definitely recommend to other student nurses, even nurses of other fields of practice who have an interest in mental health.
