Very funny anecdotes, I loved every minute reading this. Loved the insight into some well-known showbiz stars. Mind you, as I went to school with Alton, I could be a bit biased……

A terrific book, packed with gags and anecdotes from a long and interesting career. A perfect volume to keep handy and dip into when you have a spare minute or two. A great sticking filler for someone who likes showbusiness……or just like a laugh!

Alton’s latest book (Funny’s the Word) is a cross between 4 hours with Ken Dodd firing jokes at a rapid pace, plus a vast collection of anecdotes from his many nights travelling the country workingman’s club/pub circuit.
If you’ve ever been in the entertainment industry either as a musician or comedian, then this book is a ‘must have’, definitely worth a read if you can. I’m hugely familiar with loads of his stories of inept MC’s, the “dressing rooms” or as we liked to call them, toilets and some of the ‘punters’, I was one of those musicians, Pete Chatfield drummer of parish.
