Could not recommend this book more highly. We are seasoned travellers to Italy and Rome and have over the years collected and read so many guide books but this one beats them all. Corinne’s passion, knowledge and enthusiasm simply jumps off the page. She is like your best friend chatting away to you. We went to 3 new places based on her book recommendations and I enjoyed each place all the more from having read Corinne’s notes in advance.
Simply a must purchase for anyone who wishes to dig a little deeper than the Spanish Steps & Trevi Fountain (lovely as they are) but at the same time does not want to be overwhelmed by reading the whole history of Rome over 2,000 years at a sitting.
I have also purchased Corinne’s book on Florence and really looking forward to reading it too.

I read this before our trip and bookmarked lots of things I wanted to do. I haven’t managed all of them, but we have done a lot! If you’ve already done the major sites this book is excellent for guiding you to some of the lesser known and less crowded things to see. The Domus Auraea certainly didn’t disappoint. The only thing I felt the book needed was an index so I could find the relevant information quickly if needed.

Been to Rome multiple times but learnt so many new places to visit that I would have never known about. Booked several for our visit this summer. Written in a nice, friendly style, with all the necessary detail.

This book is definitely the best tourist guide I have read. It is informative, witty, personal and a must read for every traveller to Rome. You won’t read much on the Colosseum, St. Peters or Vatican, but that’s exactly the point. These places are packed with people and so much more to see and experience.
