Go Your Crohn Way: A Gutsy Guide to Living with Crohn’s Disease

£10.40

For Kathleen Nicholls, life with Crohn’s disease has been a constant battle against her bowels. But life has also been about David Bowie, dancing, and laughter. Go Your Crohn Way follows the highs and lows of Kathleen’s experiences, and is full of useful advice for maintaining self-confidence and positivity while navigating the world of work, relationships, and those conversations.

Warm and inspiring, this book demonstrates how Crohn’s can be life-changing, but not just for the worse. Kathleen gives advice and tips on adapting and thriving through Crohn’s, including a specially created phrasebook, which proves that so long as you know how to ask for the nearest bathroom, globe-trotting is still firmly on the agenda.

Full of fun and humour, Kathleen’s journey through life with Crohn’s disease will leave you – like her – in stitches.

Kathleen Nicholls brings humour to a subject many of us would find difficult to discuss – our toilet habits.
But when Kathleen was diagnosed with Crohns, her life changed.

Diary quotes and text explain what she went through, from diagnosis in 2010, through trying different treatments (there is no cure) to undergoing major surgery (a resection, removing part of the bowel).

Through it all Kathleen has kept her sense of humour. And she has some pertinent and important advice to share. It’s not a self-help book – everyone’s experiences of Crohn’s are different – but by explaining how she coped, she gives hope to others.

I was diagnosed in 2009, have undergone several surgeries and remain on heavy medication, I would have loved to read this book in those difficult first few months. I am quite sure it can help many more who will be diagnosed in future.

Bought to try to understand the disease as my sons girlfriend suffers with Chron’s. The book is so good. It explains everything so well and written in a funny, readable way. It explains the many ups and downs. My sons girlfriend read it and said she didn’t feel so alone with the disease anymore. It helped her with the many tips included. Highly recommended.

Very appropriate timing that I finished reading this on world IBD day. Firstly I want to say this is truly a great book and I loved every page. It had me in fits of laughter at some points but also on the verge of tears at others (bit awkward when you are reading it at work ha ha). It is informative in such a relatable and light hearted way. As someone who has ulcerative colitis (and has always just tried to deal with it on their own as much as possible) it was so helpful to know someone is going through what I am and that I am not alone.

I honestly cannot recommend this book enough to anyone who has IBD or anyone who knows someone who has it. It really does just give you a relatable snippet of what it is like living with a chronic ilness.

My son was diagnosed with Crohns few months ago and not knowing much about it I thought I would buy this book knowing it was written by someone who also had it. I found it very informative and amusing in places but eye-opening. I am going to pass it on to him and also let his wife and brother read it who will find it useful. Thank you

As someone who knew next to nothing about this illness before reading, this book had helped me understand and relate to someone I know who suffers from it. Very warm, funny and honest book!

I love everything about this book! I went through every emotion whilst reading it but most of all I had a sore sides from laughing so hard. It helped give a serious disease a light hearted twist which in my opinion is much needed and appreciated. Kath is an extremely talented writer and I could read her material over and over! Gread read!

I enjoyed this book, I have recently been diagnosed with Crohns and I identify with what was written in this book which gave me some relief as it’s nice to know there’s someone else out there who feels/felt the same at some point! I gave it to my mother so she could get an insight as to what is going on inside my head with dealing with this new diagnosis. There were a few spelling and grammar mistakes in my book but it didn’t bother me!
