God in the ICU: Suddenly things happened that he never could have imagined

£6.70

When an anaesthetist started praying with his patients in the Intensive Care Unit, suddenly his practice was transformed. As he relates his story in the context, first of a South Africa transitioning to democracy and then in the Middle East you will hear stories of a God who responds to prayer in ways that are uniquely His. This has the drama of hi-tech medicine, the poignancy of lives that are hanging in the balance, the human touch of a doctor who is trying to understand a God who does not always respond as he would like Him to and above all the inspiration and encouragement of a God who loves us enough to hear us when we pray and to be with us in our moments of deepest need.

Dr Walker’ a honesty and reality comes through in every page. It is a real insight into his compassion and trials. His complete commitment to obedience to our Lord whichever country or circumstances he finds himself is so inspiring. The book is easy to read yet informative. I love how he relates Scripture verses to each story. Thank you Dr Walker. I pray that more medical staff would follow your example. What a difference it would make to them and their patients and loved ones.

Rarely have I read such an inspiring book, that tells of the everyday struggles of an Christian, gifted anesthesiologist, and an extraordinary loving God!
A man who, when he found God, took prayer seriously and although he struggled with God’s ‘answers’ at times, as he prayed for healings, learnt a lot as he submitted to God’s Sovereign will. Most of all he learned of the amazing all-encompassing love of the Father’s heart in every situation.

I cried, laughed and was drawn into the Father’s presence as some of the situations spoke to me and I allowed Him to speak and minister to me.

I am now praying and asking God who would benefit from reading this so I can purchase and send to others.

An amazing book. The prayerful impact Dave made on his patients, their relatives and the staff is penned throughout the book, not in an arrogant vain way but giving the Lord the Glory. His honesty including his doubts make him just like the rest of us except he had the courage to listen and obey the Lord telling him to pray.

These are such heart rending accounts and I love the fact that Bible references start each chapter and interject throughout. It is a brilliant reminder that when we cry out to God he is there to answer prayer, but only in the way He wants, and that is always the best way for us and for our world. A lovely book.
