Gold: The next exciting novel in the TikTok-beloved, smash-hit series by the Sunday Times bestseller (Plated Prisoner, 5)

£9.50

The latest novel in the smash-hit Plated Prisoners by Sunday Times bestselling author Raven Kennedy

‘Find me in another life. Find me in them all’

It all ends now. . .

But Every end is also a beginning.

I was supposed to die. If it weren’t for Slade, I would have. But he tore a hole the world I know and I went through it. To Annwyn. To home.

Annwyn is the realm of the fae, a magical place full of beauty and danger.

Here, I am known as Lyäri Ulvêre – the golden one gone. And there are people in this world who want to keep me that way.

But I am not that girl in the gilded cage anymore, and I won’t be used again. Nor stopped on my way back to Slade.

I am my own woman. And I will find him. In this world, or the next.

‘An emotional rollercoaster of a book that brings vivid and layered characters into a magical realm. The world building and pace is intricate and fast, this is a book you will race through’ Glamour

Honestly, the only elements of this I really liked were Malina’s surprising growth, and Auren and Slade’s bond coming to life. The rest of it? Could have read a couple of paragraphs’ summary and be done with it: Auren obviously ends up in Annwyn. Slade obviously goes on a revenge-filled rampage. Auren is obviously hailed as a saviour. She obviously finds Slade’s mum and the villagers, and surprise, surprise, Slade’s dad. After we finally cut through all the other waffle to get to the point where Slade and Auren make a connection to one another, and just when they could have set the scene for them to work together on either side of the rip with us readers eagerly supporting them, punching the air with a ‘yes!’ and excitedly anticipating the final instalment…all of that adrenaline rush gets swept away and we’re dropped back down with the tension-crushing, mind-numbing disappointment of Auren getting her memory wiped. Why bother reading the last book now? It’s all just laid out in boring obviousness. She won’t remember Slade, there’ll be a big fight where all hope seems lost, and at the last minute, her memory will come back, her ribbons will become wings, and she’ll use her magic to save them all. There we go, I could just save myself yet another £10 that it will cost me…I’ll still buy it because I’ve invested so much time and money into the books to give up now. But as with the ending of book 4, this could have been so more respectful of the characters’ journeys. I understand the trope of a cliffhanger ending…but leaving it at Auren and Slade acknowledging the bond would have been so much more exhilarating. And as it is, I just feel a bit flat and disappointed at the abrupt nosedive of the ending – but I guess that’s my reader journey and I need to trust the author.

I feel a lot of people won’t understand this book is a build up to the finish. It’s a lot of back and forth waiting for things to happen. I really feel that it’s going be worth it in the next book. I do feel for the author having a tough year but I’m glad she pushed through! The finale book going be crazy!

Raven Kennedy. I mean wowza. This series is gripping, I’ve waited the whole year for this book, and it didn’t disappoint. What did disappoint is that the finale isn’t available. Livid. What the hell do you except us to do for another year, Raven?! I NEED to know what happens. Slades dad?! I mean I thought my father in law was a pain in the ass but this guy..
