In this major monograph on Grayson Perry, now updated and expanded, writer and art historian Jacky Klein explores the artist’s work through a discussion of his major themes and subjects. Klein’s text is complemented by intimate and perceptive commentaries by Perry on individual pieces, giving unique access to his imaginative world and creative processes. This third edition not only has updates throughout, but also includes two new chapters, on the ‘House for Essex’, designed and built in 2015 with Living Architecture (a UK not-for-profit holiday rental company founded by philosopher and writer Alain de Botton, which aims to promote, educate and enhance appreciation of modern architecture), and on ‘Identity Politics’, covering new work made since the previous edition of this book was published in 2013.

Nothing to dislike about this book it celebrates all the work Grayson has done over his long art career, Alan Measles his teddy bear is frequently mentioned and is revealed in many guises in his artworks. I became a fan of Grayson’s through watching Channel 4’s Art Club. If you are a fan of Grayson’s buy this book I would recommend it to any art/ ceramics lover.

Having been to an exhibition and heard him speak in the past, I so enjoyed Grayson’s Art Club during lockdown that I wanted to find out more about him and his work. The book is good value: lots of lovely photos and discussion of some of the themes of his life and work and much larger than I realised. Great to dip into. Delivered in a timely way and in excellent condition.

I bought this for my husbands birthday as he’s a fan of Grayson Perry and we recently went to see some of his art work in Lincoln.
Thus is a huge coffee table book, beautifully illustrated and very informative. It shows his ceramics, tapestries, sketches, prints, etchings etc. So a wide variety of his work, catalogued and in sections by subject.

What can you say about one of the most interesting yet relatable artists of our time that expresses art around issues occurring in society so vividly and beautifully except he is fantastic. This is a book that goes very well with all the pieces he has made to demonstrate work what he has created since he started his career and some of his television documentaries go with the work also. There are great pictures and great write ups regarding each piece of sculptures, tapestry, pottery or art it is a must have for any Grayson fan and people just interested in art. This a updated version on the last version.
