I gave this book to my husband and he loves it. It has good advice for growing and setting up for growing different veg. but also recipes for the produce.
I find him reading this most days.

As I have limited space in my garden to grown much I have been doing more “pottering around” and enjoyed accumulating more and more plants. The tips in this book have allowed my to take my skills quickly to the next level. The little tips on pot size or soil type have done the trick in getting more successful outcomes. I love to cook, so growing veg in pots has been so great.

This is the second book by the same author I have purchased – it feels like an old book and is a good read plus some nice foodie bits in. It isn’t full of recipes but it takes you slowly how to put veg in tubs etc. It would make a lovely gift for a friend or mum

Super book combining great practical advice and also food advice. Highly recommended for both serious and occasional gardeners, even where you apparently have absolutely no space to grow anything

It’s perfect – the book itself is beautifully presented
with lots of good advice for someone who doesn’t have much of a clue, like me… will be buying some pots on the morrow (or should that be marrow..????????)

I had really hoped that this book would fully inform me how to grow fruit and vegetables in pots,as the title suggests.Although the book is beautifully produced,it is lacking in instruction, and inspiration. I would return it, however at this present time,it isn’t worth the effort.I am sorry that Phaidon have printed this, because the content is poor. The recipes do not add anything to the book.I sometimes wonder why some books get published. The author does not enthuse the reader at all. Poor show.

I thought this book was great on first glance. The pictures are beautiful and inspirational. But the paragraphs are long before they get to the information you really want to know if they doe at all – like works best – in what size pots – what crops combine the best – what sort of pot to use for what etc. The different fruit and veg are not on separate pages and the guide is vague as to what you should try first if you’re a beginner, and when you should plant things throughout the seasons’ progression. I think it could be far more practical than it is whilst retaining its beauty. And more than half the book is recipes which isn’t what I bought it for. Sadly feels like it spends more time on the shelf than as a practical gardening guide.

I bought this book for a friend and liked it so much I had to get a second copy to keep. I love the style, with easy to follow guidance and a good structure. I’ve had to supplement some of it with extra research (eg on pot sizes) . It has made vegetable growing seem completely accessible and I now have a patio packed with pots and I’m brimming with anticipation to see what works and start eating the results! I am a much better cook than gardener, so the recipes are a nice bonus but I wouldn’t buy the book for them. The friend is equally thrilled with the book.
