I got this book for my 7 year old for extra handwriting practice. It is pitched at the right level for him and he is happy to complete it (with a little DS bribery). I am not sure if a 5 year old could manage it unless they are a handwriting genius but maybe my standards are low, who knows? It starts with a recap of individual letters and then starts going through each join such as ‘in’ etc, it then gets you to practice each join with some simple words. Like bin, jam etc. It then does capitals, days of the week and numbers to 20. Finally colours. It gets you to trace then copy. I like the book as its colourful and has nice words that aren’t really small. This isn’t continuous cursive so if your school is doing that you may want a different book but its joined up writing as I was taught in the 80s and so I think it works well.

I highly recommend it

Good for a beginner learning cursive handwriting, my child found the colour of the font a bit difficult to see to trace over and copy.

Amazing! I bought it for my nephew, who’s Year 1, and he didn’t want to stop writing. ???????? He wanted to literally to finish the book on the first day he received it. I highly recommend it for reception and KS1 children to keep practicing their handwriting which is so important to their fine motor skills development.
