This book was recommended to me by a friend who is a teacher at a music school. It starts off with basic concepts of reading, scales, key signatures but gets into quite complex material at the end.
Well written in simple language, with lots of practice tests.
Great for anyone wanting to learn music theory to a level well above simple Rock, Pop, Folk etc.

This book is easy to go through even without a teacher or any help.
I was told by my guitar teacher to pick this up to help me with a few gaps in my knowledge of music theory. So far it has been great and easy to follow. I would recommend this to anyone who has played music for a while but never really got into the side of seriously studying music theory. After buying several books on the subject I would say this is by far the best.

This is an excellent book for anyone wishing to study some music theory. Everything is explained in clear terms and answers to the questions are include at the back of the book.

This is a very good theory book for the working musician. Very practical and easy to follow. Recommended by my bass tutor

The book wasn’t in a very good condition when it arrived. Pages were folded and tattered and some have also been written on and some exercises already filled in. Overall, not too bad for the price.

Great book. Short but concise and succinct explanations enforced by very useful exercises. Highly recommended

This is a really excellent book for budding guitarists and song writers. I am really glad I bought this book as it was very helpful in understanding what harmony (chords and notes) can work together and in sequence. Also modes, scales and much more. Having the exercises with answers at the back was also very useful. I had already completed the ABRSM grade 5 theory books and exam before I read this book but I think it would have been OK to read without all that prior knowledge.
It is worth noting that the Pocket Theory book by the same authors is an exact copy of this book but in a very small format and without the exercises. I bought both without realising they were the same 🙂
