I first read Chamber of Secrets when it was first published in the UK (and yes, I still have my original copy). I’m not usually a fan of buying new editions of books just for a different cover but I feel that the Harry Potter anniversary house editions are special.

The covers each have house specific details and the added information about each house make these books wonderful collectors editions.

If you are a fan of Harry Potter and you’ve taken the Pottermore house quiz (or you want to collect all four house editions) you won’t be disappointed with this new edition!

This is the second book in the Harry Potter series to get the 20th anniversary makeover. This means that it is now available in the four house colours of Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin. All four books look really striking in the respective red, yellow, blue and green.

Now anyone who is or knows a Harry Potter fan will know that one of the first thing a fan does is take the house sorting quiz on Pottermore to find out which house they belong to. My daughter is a Potter fan and has done this test numerous times and is happy that the result always places her in Ravenclaw. She’s even made me and my wife take the test! Lol. So even though she has a full collection of the books, she is looking forward to getting the complete collection in her house colours.

Enough about the colour and edition of the book! Should you read it? Definitely yes! I was the last one in our house to read the books. I didn’t go and watch any of the films as it wasn’t something that really interested me, but I really regret that now. All of the Potter books are a fantastic read and I went from one to the other in quick succession. This is the book where the characters start to grow and is one of my favourites. So if you’re a Harry Potter sceptic like I was, just try them, you may be pleasantly surprised and may even enjoy them as much as I did.

This is a must for those in Ravenclaw. The book is just gorgeous. I know they say “never judge a book by its cover” but this is just glorious.
The illustrations really give it a personal touch, with the illustration of Rowena Ravenclaw herself, down to the illustration of the Ravenclaw common room. Very pleased. Will be adding the rest of the Ravenclaw collection in the future.

This was probably my least favourite of the series as a child, but rereading it, I’ve bumped it up to four stars because I actually think it was better than the first book! It’s got a lot more action, and the mystery of the Chamber of Secrets is pretty gripping.

    Highlights:

    – The Ford Anglia rescue
    – The Burrow!!
    – Freeing Dobby <3
    – Lockhart’s excessive hubris

    Who doesn’t love Harry Potter?
Who doesn’t love special house editions of Harry potter?

What a gorgeous edition! Love that the blue colour is more prominent than Harry Potter and The Philosphers Stone, they look so good next to each other on my bookshelves.

I’ve heard that each book will be alternating colours which I love!

Also love how each house edition has a specially designed house crest on the front cover, along with a little quiz and ravenclaw facts etc at the back of the book.

A wonderful edition to any harry potter collection

Bit disappointed that books from Amazon always have a scuff, scratch or creese but this is a beautiful book either way XD

The case bound House editions are beautiful presentations of magical stories – They deserve a place in the library of everyone who wants to believe 🙂

This. Is. Beautiful. I love reading the extra little information about hogwarts and doing the quiz at the back! It’s a stunning metallic bronze on the cover too! I just wish under the dust cover it had a detailed cover too but that’s just my issue with hardbacks in general tbf.
