Brought for my wife to Crochet for our daughter. My wife has 31 years experience of Crochet and even she found some of this kit fiddly. My wife is in the process of doing all of the characters including a 2nd Ginny Weasley using the instructions for Hermione Granger body and is in the process of doing a larger Rubeus Hagrid following the instructions in the book but with Aran weight yarn instead of double knitting. We’ve had no trouble getting the yarn for the other characters as my wife wrote down the yarn colour and quantities needed beside the colours needed and just gave it to the wonderful ladies in our local yarn shop

Great kit. I did not use the enclosed hook, as I prefer an ergonomic one, so cut it down and made a wand for Harry, and glued this to his hand (my granddaughter, for whom I was making these, is 10, so safety not an issue). I had no problem with the amount of yarn provided.
I made the whole set, using other yarn I had in my stash. I am a pretty experienced crocheter, with over 40 years experience, though I did find some of the patterns, particularly the youngsters in uniform, were quite fiddly because of frequent colour changes, but the finished effects were worth it. The talking hat was quite a challenge, to ensure the right expression.
My granddaughter was thrilled with the set, which was a great reward.

This set is very good with a couple of ‘howevers’. The crochet hook is not really functional as it’s too flimsy and the wool would snag if used. The wool itself, in my opinion, was such bad quality that I used my own from my stash. That said, the patterns are really clearly written and I am very pleased with the results. Definitely would have given the set 5 stars but for the wool.

Now that I have done the first figure in full, I feel I can give a good review!

As ever, with Lucy’s patterns, the finished designs are brilliant. So much thought and detail has gone into them.

A couple of small negatives though, for which I have docked a star.

-The dark grey yarn – only just enough to do Harry’s trousers.
-Wand hook – nice touch but not functional. Plastic catches on the yarn, and the hook bends.
-terms are US which is fine if you are experienced, but I noticed not every stitch was defined/described in the instructions. Previous kits (star wars) were in UK terms.

But on the plus side, plenty of stuffing provided, and apart from the dark grey yarn, plenty of excess yarn allowing for errors 🙂

Addendum – Made Harry- Ran out of Dark Grey Yarn for the legs!!! Not impressed at having to rip it back & hunt for yarn. The Kit yarn is very corse & scratchy.. Trying to find something which works colour & texture wise.. not great! Yarn is hardly that expensive – scrimping on a meter just lacks respect for the people who purchase your products!

Lucy Collin lives in West Sussex, England. Doesn’t seam to know if her pattern is written in British English uk ???????? or American ???????? Terms.
This “book / Kit” had not been proof read.
    DC is Double Crochet
SC is Single Crochet (US) Double Crochet UK
Font is all over the place.
    Incredibly disappointing for almost £20!
Nowhere in the book ???? does it say which terms are used. Some how to pictures but no clear information.
The yarn is really poor quality.

Sold as English – by an author ✍️ who lives in West Sussex I would expect it to be English (as in England ???????????????????????????? – British English).

If Amazon had bothered to state which language was used I would NOT have purchased the kit. Totally wish I could get a refund. Disappointed.

Patterns are great and look cute, but yarn supplied is low quality
