Excellent informative and a must have for people caring for brain injured. Excellent for me as a wife of husband with a stroke and better than leaflets that are purely related to the condition but not so much covering the emotional and psychological effects of living with disability

I would recommend this book to any Carer or sufferer of a brain injury. It’s a book that can be dipped into at any point when help or guidance on a particular subject is required. It does not need to be read from start to finish as do most books. Practical reference guide recommended by the Brain Injury Team at our local hospital. They lent me a copy but when I realised how helpful it is I purchased my own copy.

If you’ve acquired a head or brain injury, this book is essential! Accessible and easy reading, considering it’s complex topic. 10/10!

Since being diagnosed with a brain injury, I’ve found it hard to find books on it. There’s not much out there at the minute, but hopefully the more awareness there is the easier it’ll get. This was recommended by the Headway charity and it’s great for the people in your life.

Seems clear and knowledgeable. I was head-injured myself when my car was run over by a tractor and feel this book gives me some helpful insights into my condition. I am struggling through it due to lack of concentration, but so far so good.

Recovery has been a harder road than even the good doctors properly understand. Six years on from my injury and around three years from it settling down, I still am in a mental muddle. Of course a mental muddle cannot be seen and there is only so much sympathy to go round…

To everyone who has a head injury I say do please buy this book as it may help you. It will certainly help you come to terms with conflicting opinions and the comments of some doctors. Here I am thinking of the medico legal examinations and reports organised by insurance companies designed to counter any compensation claim.

Whatever happens, hang on to your sense of self. This book is a good start but I can only award it four stars as I feel it only just touches the serious problem of Post Concussion Syndrome – which itself is a subject of much debate. If you have had a head injury, and end up in a mental muddle, you possibly have Post Concussion Syndrome. Like a jar of sweets that was ok until it was shaken around. All the sweets are still there but in a muddle. All this is compounded by age and other intervening factors.

I wish this book had looked at this more closely but it is a large topic and the space may not have been available. Nevertheless all head injuries require understanding. A helpful book.

After searching for help with a moderately serious head injury, an aquaintance who had been advised to buy this book for herself, recomended it to me.
It is well written and informative and very importantly for someone with a head injury it is laid out well and easy to use. The book explains some of the common symptoms and frustrations I experienced and offers practical advice for me and also my partner who has had to deal with, in some situations, a complete stranger.
Does what it says on the tin. If you have suffered a head injury or know someone who has this book is a must. The reason that it has only 4 stars and not 5 from me is the cost. Its worth it, but when you are not working as a result of such an injury, its a lot of money to find.

This is an excellent read. It is well written and aimed at all people who come into contact with a person with a brain injury. I used it when I first started working in a brain injury clinic. A fellow therapist told me that he uses it with his patients and their families to raise awareness of the complexity of a brain injury and the difficulties that arise. It gives good solid information, is easy to follow and has none of the jargon that is common in clinicians books.

I have a brain injury and bought this for someone so he could understand me more without me constantly saying “I can’t help the way I’m behaving” I could simply explain why I do the things I do ?
It is written in a straightforward way that is very easy to understand. In fact it has helped me personally as I had forgotten a lot about my brain injury and reading this makes a lot of sense !
