Follow their rules or it’s the last thing you ever do…

Tall, muscular, blond, rich, sexy as hell and a star soccer player, Drew Maxwell had it all. He was the perfect type of person the Onyx Society wanted to recruit. And that was exactly what Drew was counting on.

He transferred to Blackstone University to infiltrate the secret society that killed his brother but found the girl who shattered his heart years ago. Needing to get close to her to discover if she had a role in his brother’s death, Drew had to fight the resurrected and unwanted attraction.

Barely escaping her abusive father, Gwen Mason was hiding out at college. She kept her head down and herself out of the spotlight, until she ran into her ex-boyfriend, the world’s biggest jerk. She vowed to ignore him, but he turns up everywhere she goes, looking hot and followed by a pack of swooning, female, soccer groupies.

As both Gwen and Drew fight their attraction, the society targets Drew and everyone he cares about. Even the girl he claims to hate.

The blurb sounded anxsty and exciting, however the writing was stunted, the characters immature.. it all fell apart and became boring very quickly. Dnf

This has the premise for such a promising read but unfortunately just did not deliver. The writing was stilted and didn’t read great, and the way the characters were written were quite childish. I tried to finish it but just couldn’t

Drew and Gwen fell out 3 years ago, both thinking the other left them without any further communication. ????
He ends up transferring to the same university as her, but sparks fly because of their hurt feelings.
They both end up at a sports sponsorship evening, although Gwen us uncomfortable. Drew is there to try and find out how his brother died! Their father’s turn up, and Gwen’s turns nasty attacks her, but Drew protects her, and they realise they have feelings for each other. Much more happens, but they’re spoilers! Suffice to say it makes them realise that they still have deep feelings for each other. Onwards and upwards to book 2 now
    Well worth the read

I really enjoyed this 1st book in the series. Gwen and Drew’s story is addictive and is getting into the thick of it and I can’t wait for more. I’m loving the BFF’s Sam and Dean and seeing if there story will develop too. Great read and will be waiting for book 2.

Not sure I would call this an enemies to lovers story but still a decent read. I’m not sure if I’ll read the second book as wasn’t blown away by this one. I though it was a bit far fetched with all the other side stories.
The characters were okay though – maybe the books about the military team would be better suited to me.
